M3 back to Evo IX? Am I crazy?!
I saw a real sweet 135i yesterday on the highway. I'm really starting to like the looks of those cars. Still a bit pricey for me, maybe I'll pick one up in a few years to take advantage of the depreciation.
Get an EVO X. it won't look as childish as the EVO IX, and it's just as badass, if not more so. I think about getting a BMW for my next car sometimes because i'm 30, make a lot of money, and people give me funny looks too when they see the EVO, but the hell with them. when i'm behind the wheel, none of that matters. i'm keeping the IX MR forever, and my next car will most likely be an EVO X MR. they are just too much fun to drive, and too good on the track to go for a BMW just to say, "look at me *****es, i drive a BMW."
also, i'm not single, i've got a fiance and she LOVES the EVO as much or more than I do. I bought her an Acura TSX earlier this year, so if we need to go somewhere and look somewhat grown up, we take it lol

I went from E46 M3 to Evo IX.
Both frustrated in different ways, but I kept the Evo much longer.
The E46 M3 had poor brakes, poor steering feel, insufficient wheel travel for fast progress along bumpy/twisty routes, poor acceleration, but had all the toys and felt good for normal driving.
The Evo with simple stage mods was much better in all performance respects, but the aftermarket exhaust got on my nerves.
R35 GTR is a good compromise in that it does all the good things of both and then some, but costs to buy and run. I did consider an Evo X, but the added weight with a small engine would not have given me the package of the GTR, and in the UK the the GTR was only 40% more than the X FQ 360 on list price. I really wanted an SMG like box, six + cylinders and AWD. I also strongly considered the 335i, but no iX in the UK and Scottish winters don't go together, the M3 was a nightmare in winter.

I miss my IX! I traded it for the X and even though the X is a sweet car-with AYC and all-the IX for me was/is the true drivers car. I am driving an STi GR series right now, and am ready to sell it and go back to the IX and never look back. (my poor X got stolen, and I ended up with the STi)
The M3 is a great daily driver especially if you have to drive long commutes. Whenever I think of selling the evo I watch this video

I know its a FQ400 but my coworkers don't know the difference lol.

and on a funny note thats the vid i show my family and friends who don't kno what an evo is
they just give me a look like this
I don't care to read 11 pages of this, but:
Evo is a special car. Underappreciated by those that don't own it. That said, M3 is an awesome car, too. If you can afford it, get both. If you have patience, pay off the M3 and then get another Evo. If you can't do either of those, just do want you want. It's your life. Just remember you have to live with the consequences of your decisions! I myself am wishing I never sold my 06 IX MR! Once I am able to, I will be doing option #2: 335 and IX MR or X.

i came from a long line of tuning many dsms and wanted to try a different platform. i picked up an sti and had it for about 8 months before i started to wish i would have got an evo. sold it 1 year and 1 month on the day and got an evo. never looked back.
you wouldnt believe all of the slack i got for that from friends/family. but in the end, like the op, i did it for me. not for them. i wasnt going to keep a car i wasnt happy with because someone else thought i should.

Well, as stated before, i have decided to go with the Evo, i think the biggest thing for me was having it as a daily driver, love the car, but it can be a lil rough as a dd. So, i decided to trade the M3 for a nice Jeep Grand Cherokee. Will finalize the deal tomorrow and pick up the Jeep. I am sure many are curious, yes i will lose a few bucks on the trade, but what can i do, i want what i want, and the idea of trying to sell an M3 private party 1 day before our 2nd winter blitz isnt all that tempting! I will have a payment low enough to accommodate both cars once i find a IX.
Anyone looking or know of a TB IX SE for sale with low miles and stock, holla at me. I am interested!
Thanks again for all the feedback my folks, you helped to make this decision and I am happy as a pig in ish with the idea of being back in a Evo!

Very good points on all the above, i guess the biggest thing with me is the respect you get in this M3. Considering all, it feels good. Again being in my mid 30's, i got the impression or feeling, whether valid or not, that i was being looked at and judged a certain way when in the Evo.

- turbo cars are just cheaper to make fast...and i LOVE boost!
its cool man! i had an E92 and sold it for an sti, while having an evo- finally got rid of the stupid scooby and got an srt8 jeep-but the evo is one hell of a car!- same power, without the maintnance of a BMW
not to make this thread longer, im in the market for an M3.. still searching for one with a good price in a way i wont be needing to trade in my evo for it
garage that has an evo/m3/R1.. drooling
