Which is better 5 or 6 spd?

I am going to buy a evo come this summer and my friend has a evo 9 mr while I like how his drives I hear that people swap their 6 for 5 spds. why is this? WHICH should I get should I go with a 6 spd mr or get a 5 spd rs or a evo x gsr?

p.s. I might be slightly modding the car nothing to crazy tho

It depends on what you want to do. I enjoy the 6 because I like having to throw through the gears. It is very true that the 6 speed gears are not as strong as the 5 speeds. This applies to a point though. I am at 470hp/410tq and my 6 is shifting as good as the day I bought it. You just have to baby it a bit more with fluid changes and not do crazy downshifts at highway speeds, I hear that is a killer for pulling the input shafts from the tranny.

What are your final goals? What are you seeking to do with the car?
