Its been said before, but Ill repeat. To everyone complaining about this car, complaing about bringing the RS over instead of the FQ300, etc, you are clueless.
This is a car meant for competition, and that is it. They are making it easier on people who want to race them by not selling the car with the radio, ac, abs, etc. Im still a bit puzzled why it even has Recaros and the rims though.
This is a competition model, not a stripper EVO. Sure some will buy it because its more affordable, but thats obviously not the point. If that was the point Mitsu would make a lot more of them than 700 or whatever they are quoted as saying.....

Making this car will be a good move for Mitsubishi by getting more of them into the race scene. It makes perfect sense. It is going to be VERY interesting though when it comes to Solo II classification. This is a car that will have a clear advantage over a regular Evo in stock Solo II..so we may see the Evo RS and regular Evo classed seperately.
If you owned a shop or raceteam which you buy to use for nothing but racing? A bare bones lightened RS with a front LSD for 26k or a loaded regular Evo that you would in turn need to strip for 30k? Even for those not looking to buy an Evo soley for racing, some performance enthusiasts that race competively on the weekends will pick the RS for its advantages over the current Evo...especially if they class them the same.
Most car companies that are serious into getting their product into the race scene build lightened stripped versions in limited #'s.
On the other hand it would be very nice to see them offer something along the lines of the MR with a front LSD, and maybe even ACD, along with a power increase to 300.
IMO they should give us all 3.

they did the wrong thing...bringing over the RS...like the admin say...evo is not a luxery sports car and it will never be....but who say sports car don't come with power (supra, rx7, GT-R, and the list go on)? is not practicle to buy one if you don't have a shop...i m sure people that own shops and like to put their parts in(like vivid, HKS, all those other company)...they'll buy one and use it on the track...so they don't have to go through the stripping part...i don't see why would anyone spend a good 27Gs on that....i know is faster but...wtf...how fast do you wanna go? a regular evo with all the goodie will satisfy most of your speed needs....but the radio, ac, power stuff...they r there to satisfy you practicle needs. they should have brought over the FQ300...eventho i got a evo already...it'll still be nice to see a FQ on the road in US
Exactly why they are making so few. I would have gotten the RS if it was offered. The Evo is not my daily car.

You guys are missing the point here. This is an RS with about 250 LBS savings, thats to much gain for power. Its made for racing nothing more nothing less. If you dont like it go and buy a CAMRY.
I understand the race only nature of the RS, and IMO the only reason it's here is for homologation so it can be used in the SCCA Pro Rally. The big 3 used to do it all the time for nascar racing etc. They only have to make/sell so many per year to be allowed to call it a production car and use it in competition.
This move won't initally sell more Evo's, but in the long run it will help brand identity for Mitsu (through race wins hopefully). My hope is that this is a precursor to them bringing over the FQ300 and FQ330. The rest of the world is having too much fun with them. I have no use for an RS, but I'd buy an FQ in a heartbeat.

The Evo really is a rally car. Mitsubishi is making a stripped version available so people can more affordably take this car to the track (when I say track, I do not mean drag racing) and win.
This also shows their commitment to the brand here in the US as a viable and sellable product. We are getting trim levels now! Who knows what trim level they will bring here next!
I think most people who are sad that Mitsu didn't release a car with heated seats, reverse warning indicators, cruise control, and other blah blah gizmos are just punters who do not own and never will own an Evo, regardless of the trim options. Because if they are that worried about the comfort and luxury, they certainly will NEVER find it in an Evo.
The Evo was never, and never will be a luxury sporty car. And it will never try to be one either. To even try, would be a travesty and a sell-out attempt at building a car for the least common denominator.....the non-enthusiasts.
THANK YOU!!

What SC said. You guys need to get a clue. The RS is nothing "new", it's been an available trim overseas for all the Evo models. Stop whining about cruise control and other creature comforts. The Evo as it is is comfortable enough - maybe even a little too much.
Like SC said, if you don't like it now, you probably never will.
