I was able to get first allocation spot for MSRP. I want a simple car that can be tracked. Rememeber, less equipment on a car is less to go wrong! Keep it simple really does count in racing.

The RS is to be raced on the track.... But it makes the perfect low key sleeper on the streets.

Is there any way to find out where the ~500 RS's will go? I called my local dealer and inquired about an RS, and they must've passed the phone 5-6 times. Nobody on the sales force had heard of an EVO RS. I left my name but have little hope of hearing anything back.

That's the same response I got...but with the great deals you can get on an '03 you get it for about the same price

Evo RS weights

I skimmed this thread to see if these weights had been posted yet. The only thing I've seen is that the RS is 88 lbs lighter than a Evo (CF spoiler no sunroof).
The numbers published on p.36, Sport Compact Car, March '04 confirm the 88 lb weight savings and offer a couple more tidbits of info.

3263 lbs - Evo with CF spoiler
3331 lbs - Evo with CF spoiler, sunroof, Infiniti system, leather
3175 lbs - Evo RS
3197 lbs - Evo RS with Urban Jungle package

I'm surprised the Urban Jungle pkg (power locks/windows/
mirrors, A/C and keyless entry) adds only 22 lbs. The car remains 66 lbs lighter than a std Evo with CF spoiler. Still removed are the ABS, rear wing, rear wiper, trunk trim, leather shift knob wrap, sound system, most sound deadening, map lights.
This makes me wonder if the base RS is still wired for power locks/windows/mirrors and they just omit the actuators. Someone should ask a dealer if they can tear out the door panel and look around.

Interesting numbers. Thanks!

For curiousity's sake, does anyone know how much the Carbon Fiber spoiler weights (assuming with hardware)

If the dealers look to rape customers again due to the limited quaNITY OF RS' I don't think it's a very good deal. If you want an RS, your best bet is to wait for the hype to subside and find one languishing at a dealer in BFE...

The RS is a great car. It is probably as popular as the GSR here in the UK. The guy rebating on about the diff, it makes a marked difference. People say that the RS feels much more connected to the road (probably because there is less electronic stuff happening). There is also a marked gain in performance, not only in a straight line, but also stopping and around corners. Basically the whole car is more focused (if that is possible). If you are thinking of using the car for any form of racing or track work it is defiantly the one to have!

When can we expect the RS to arrive to our local dealers? I'm looking at possibly purchasing one in the Midwest.

Thanks,
Todd

The first one's should be at dealers by mid-May, but as of today the dealers still can't place an order for one. It should be about 6 weeks after they can place the order for the car before we start seeing them.

we agreed on MSRP, otherwise i would not be guaranteed that the car would be sold to me and with so few that are supposedly coming i guess msrp will be the best price i could get.
