I have had an 07 and an 08 sti the 07 was not covered under warranty, but the 08 was. Im glad I got rid of both of them.

I have seen pictures posted of some pretty gnarly looking wrecks where the Evo kept the passengers safe, but bad accidents can stilll happen regardless of the type of car you drive.
Weird. www.freewebs.com/kao021
That was my first Evo, driven like an unexperienced driver.

However the car is solid, the only weakness is I would say getting T-boned (see pics), but isn't that an issue with almost every other car? You simply won't have enough reinforcement getting t-boned vs a head-on or read-end collision. Plus you are literally IN the danger zone (between that car is some aluminum, glass, and plastic, that's it) when a t-bone happens.

If I had kids, I would not have an issue driving them around- I would NOT drive like a jackass, though. Simply driving with respect, being courteous and cautious, and above all, safely (not speeding or switching lanes like a douche)..I'm sure that's all pretty obvious.

Don't drive like an idiot and you'll be fine. I drive around with my 17 month old all the time. My brother in law drives his two and three year olds around daily in his 500whp Evo. Hope that helps your decision.

my little girls (3 and 6) love the evo and are bummed out when we have to take mom's altima anywhere! Thats with solid engine mounts, solid diff mount, and catless greddy ti exhaust! they love the turbo and like to wave at other cars when i pass them hahaha!

going to be installing a custom cage in the next couple months so i can run 9's legally and keeping the kid seats will be a priority. it is a responsible 4 door familly sedan after all

I drove my daughter around all the time in my IX until it was t-boned (she wasn't in the car at the time). My pregnant wife was driving and a car slammed into her at 50 mph, the Evo took it like a champ and my wife and unborn daughter were uninjured (some seatbelt bruising). 17k plus in damages = $27k from insurance = 2010 Evo X with pink carseat and infant carrier base. Safety ratings would be the last thing I would worry about from a used Evo; whether it was modded, that's a different story.

ive been off course on the track in my evo going at a pretty fast speed. I felt safe and the evo did a great job protecting me. It can handle a lot regardless of what the crash ratings say.

U will have the benefit of AWD and ABS with big brakes to control the car. It is all on the driver. I for one with out a doubt drive in a milder(safer) fashion when my kids are in the car.
