evo is built tough, and ive personally seen many parents drive the evo, as long as your not a crazy driver, you will be fine!

I'm a new parent as well. I'm a bit nervous as I haven't taken my little girl out in the evo yet. I see myself not hitting 4k and putting around. Cheers.

My 5mo old baby girl loves to ride in my evo, more so than my Acura rdx. I think it's the exhaust note and the bumpy(er) ride that she likes.. The evo puts her right to sleep Zzz! I can't wait 'till she's big enough to fit in the baby recaro car seat that I'm getting for fathers day. Lol

So, to answer your question OP.. Yes the Evo is safe to drive if the driver drives safely!

My first child is going to be here in about 7 months and I have no intentions of getting rid of the Evo. I've never once tought about the Evo being unsafe. Like everyone else has said, it's the driver that makes the car unsafe, not the car itself. I like to push it once in a while, but usually I drive my car like a grandma and rarely go past 4K unless I'm out tuning or at the track.

As a side note, I really want to get one of those Recaro Baby Seats for the Evo. Does anyone have any experience with them? What are your thoughts? Would it be OK to buy one used or should I just buy a new one?

My 11-year-old daughter hasn't talked to me for two days (other than to say something nasty). You see, I removed the Agency Power twin outlet and put a stock exhaust back on. She says it's "just a car" now and doesn't attract enough attention.

In any event, yes, my kids ride in the Evo and I feel fine about this. I try to keep the "offs" to a minimum when they're riding with me.

edit: oh, i thought you were getting this car for your kids. ummmm, yeah, if you are safe on the road, theres no reason the car shouldn't be safe, but like a previous post said, you may be more comfortable in something else. good luck!

I agree with a lot of what people are saying. It is the driver, not the car that causes the problems. For me because the car does have an exhaust on it, I opt to let the little guy ride in the family car. Just because I think the loud noise might not be the best for his ears.

We also have the baby recaro which is awesome, and it does look very cool when I put it in the evo.

With the car in the garage, my little guy love to play in it, changing the gears and just using the car as a jungle gym.

hmmmm

There is not a single factory production car that can withstand a crash during a street race or any kind high speed racing without some kind of rollcage or reinforcement. So with that being said when they crash test production cars it is done with normal driving in mind. The possibility of an accident when someone crosses the center line or something similiar. The EVolution is the same thing as the Lancer. It has been tested and it tested good. So as long as your not racing with the children in the car you and your family will be fine. Remember if you remove the front and or rear crash beam on the evo you weaken the strength of the whole car.

I have 2 kids and they pretty much go everywhere with the wife and i. Usually in her vehicle but we have taken long trips in my evo and i feel its safe enough. The only worry i have is the other drivers especially in suv/trucks, especially around here

I would opt for a new one, just my personal opinion. Never really know if someone had been in a crash before using a previous car seat. I had the idea of buying a used car seat once.. My wife flipped out on me and wouldn't talk to me for a couple hours.. lol

Anyway I have two boys (3 years old and 1 year old) and I drive with them in the Evo all the time. Nothing better than hearing my 3 year old laugh uncontrollably once I hit boost!

Drive my 2 1/5 year around in my EVO all the time. It's all in control of the RESPONSIBLE driver/parent. I have built my car to be reliable and have all safety components retained, i.e no JDM rear or full kit that requires removing reinforcements, no crazy HP mods to make it too aggressive and helpful hint get a good torque damper to help the engine rocking back and forth. Taken my family on long vacations in that car as well 1k plus mile trips.

Recaro car seat is great, did a lot of research before buying one just for the cool factor. Have very great ratings, are very user friendly and comfortable and protective for the kids. My wife was in an accident when the car seat was in another car, my wife had minor pains and such but my daughter was fine, didn't even cry or feel a thing. Most important thing is the car seat be installed and adjusted CORRECTLY.

first i would like to say i take my kids in the evo everywhere only complaint the car seat for my 2 wk old i almost have to pull the passenger seat all the way up to fit it. Also whether you paid for it yourself or your parents did a child under the age of 18 should never own or drive (unless supervised) a car over 200 hp and if your a parent that allows this you are an irresponsible parent.

ive seen to many good kids (being an adult now and when i was in high school) get killed because their parents allowed the above. A child doesn't have enough driving experience to have a car over 200 hp, just my .02
