well as some may know i purchased my evo used and it has been modded and supposely had a different motor put in due to the original one blowing up

anywho.. i was doing some wiring under the dash (driver/ passenger) engine bay and trunk area and noticed that all my factory harness had a white tag with like a part number of some sort but started with MR and a couple numbers to follow it. its probably nothing but it made me wonder if i had a evo 8 mr? is there something in the vin number that would let me know the exact model of the car?

its an MR if it has a 6 speed

 

Bilsteins, 6 speed,vortex generator, etc. come on the MR.

The factory probably uses the same harness for both during production.

 

The roof is aluminum on the MR. Use your knuckles to knock on the roof and compare it to the door. It should sound different.

 

No Tarmac Black Evo VIII MR's were made and they were only made in the 2005 models...

 

all those things can be swapped out. If you have an aluminum roof, you've narrowed it to SE and MR, and those are pretty destinguishable

 

Easiest way to find out is to google your Vin number and it will come up with a quick free carfax .
Also Mr on the wire harnesses does not mean it is a Evo MR , the Mr on the papers is the Mitsubishi Part number for that harness . Mitsubishi Uses MR as one of there part numbers MR******** .

 

if you really want to know run the dam VIN #. It will tell you. Good god half the stuff you listed as MR only GSR and RS have. then some MR dont have a 6 spd anymore.

Mr 05 and up. 6 speed etc

 

ohh okay so it must just be a gsr than if they all use the MR**** part numbers on the papers.. it also has a sun roof so doubt MRs had it

 

as far as the vin number goes.. ive carfaxed it and it didnt say which model on it for some reason..

i was mainly wondering on the digits in the vin, i know how each digit meant something.. didnt know if it said the model in it
