Throttle stuck

First off please no Toyota jokes!

On my way to Walmart the other day my throttle decided to stick open. I was up shifting and as soon as I pushed in the clutch it revved to red line. I had to tap the gas peddle a few times to get it to let go. Its only happened the one time and seems to be fine now. Anything I should check for? Maintenance that should be done?

Car is mod free except an after market cruise control that was off when it stuck open. Its a 06 RS btw.

Stock. If it is a dirty throttle body how should I clean it? I don't think It was my floor mat.

Check your throttle cable, spray some silicone lube in the ends where it goes from covered to bare.

Also check to make sure it is secured properly to the valve cover. I know after changing plugs some people tend to forget to put it back. It will get itself in a bind being tucked in between the strut tower bar and the valve cover.

I had this problem too. Gave the throttle body a good clean and it was better than new. Just follow this great "How To".

Excellent, I will have to give this a shot. I have 44k miles now and I doubt it has ever been done.

Make sure your throttle body is stock, because some aftermarket throttle body tend to stick at the beginning. Either way spray it down with WD40
