Now accepting Forum Wars Season 2 preliminary apps
Also keep in mind folks the car must be street legal and we need volunteers more than nominations because these people will have be willing to take the time to travel and do this come this fall. We will also need a couple of members for back up just in case there is any issue with car failures or last minute personal issues that arise.
For now just figure this as a preliminary thread to get volunteers then we can start a poll.
Also I don't think it would hurt to have vendors or shops offer some incentive for those running.
Since it will have lots of viewers and can count as advertising maybe parts / tuning can be offered to the volunteer who goes in exchange for them sporting a window banner or something. It is fall and it would be a tax write off....

I agree with ODUB but do you want a decently prepped daily driver to show up and get absolutely stomped because the other forum brought there professionally raced track/drag prepped car or do you want to make sure our forum wins?
I wouldn't bring a knife to a gun fight.
If there were classes or rules that stated no sponsorship, specific limitations on money spent, etc then it would be one thing but I can see that going down another route really quick.

Just my take on this, don't know if anyone else here will agree, but after thinking about it, I don't think Gates or Nils would be a good representation of the forum. Don't get me wrong, both guys and their respective cars are badass, but they are basically professionals with all out race cars. whatever car they would race from an STi forum would have to be a similarly prepped race car which means a car that they probably already run against at time attacks and circuit events anyway, so we can already find out what would happen by looking up stats at the events they've run.
Think about it, they already run whatever competition they'd likely see on this thing, so what's
the point?
personally, i'd rather see a normal guy run. instead of fully prepped race cars with basically pro drivers, I'd rather see two lesser modded cars go at it. The person I'd nominate is someone like Warrtalon. I'd like to see something like a full bolt-on privately owned and operated EVO vs a full bolt-on privately owned and operated STi whose owners have shown that they can drive their respective cars to their full potential.
someone that represents the vast majority of the EVOM community, and not just the top 1% that race professionally. This thing was setup as a weekend warrior battle, not a sanctioned SCCA or NASA event.
I think that would be a better representation of the forums as a whole than two pros going at it in a battle that's probably already taken place countless times at other events.
Just a thought, but i'd like other members' feedback on this.

I mean if when see the AMS,Robispec,Evasive, and all the other evos we automatically think "Hell yeah!
power!"
I'd like to see someone with a 500-600 WHP DD car that knows how to drive it. I agree, we don't need to send a race car with a fully sponsored driver. Who here fits that bill and lives in SoCal?
I just watched all of the episodes on their website and it looks like a fun event. All of the cars I saw on there, however, were MUCH more stock than Nils, Gates or my car so I don't know if any of our cars would meet the rules or the intent of the show. The rules say the car must be street legal. Does this just mean plated and registered? Or does it have to have a cat, stock seatbelts, full interior? Can you change tires between events or do you have to run one set for all events??

I don't even know if Warrtalon still owns an Evo, he fell of the Forum and he did not do any racing that I know of here in Colorado last year.

Agreed, they seem to pit similarly modified cars against each other, as they should.
