Now accepting Forum Wars Season 2 preliminary apps
Ok here is the deal, I have been working with Royal purple and producers of the forum wars show to make sure the Evo community actually gets a say in who gets to go.
Now we need to choose someone and a runner up or 2 for those just in case type issues that pop up. Filming is going to be this fall and its going to be in SoCal from what I understand but I am hoping to get better details here soon.
What I need to know is "who" is interested in going and once we have that much we can put up a poll to vote on who gets sent.
Does this work for everyone?
I would suggest a 1 - 9 Evo to rep this community the other forum will be sending an X.

Royal Purple; I believe they do have to be street legal. The rules will be the same as the first one, but a more concrete this time around. They are working on specifics. From the first call: Car must be street legal and running DOT approved tires • Driver must have track experience • No tire changes • No trackside tuning

Just my take on this, don't know if anyone else here will agree, but after thinking about it, I don't think Gates or Nils would be a good representation of the forum. Don't get me wrong, both guys and their respective cars are badass, but they are basically professionals with all out race cars. whatever car they would race from an STi forum would have to be a similarly prepped race car which means a car that they probably already run against at time attacks and circuit events anyway, so we can already find out what would happen by looking up stats at the events they've run.
Think about it, they already run whatever competition they'd likely see on this thing, so what's
the point?
personally, i'd rather see a normal guy run. instead of fully prepped race cars with basically pro drivers, I'd rather see two lesser modded cars go at it. The person I'd nominate is someone like Warrtalon. I'd like to see something like a full bolt-on privately owned and operated EVO vs a full bolt-on privately owned and operated STi whose owners have shown that they can drive their respective cars to their full potential.
someone that represents the vast majority of the EVOM community, and not just the top 1% that race professionally. This thing was setup as a weekend warrior battle, not a sanctioned SCCA or NASA event.
I think that would be a better representation of the forums as a whole than two pros going at it in a battle that's probably already taken place countless times at other events.
Just a thought, but i'd like other members' feedback on this.

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
Gates, Nils are no different than Warrtalon (he is also heavily sponsored).
I want to see someone who represents our forum to its fullest, both by car and by good on-site behavior and standards.

I agree. Those guys who actually race have, you know, races where they compete. Unless I am completely misinformed as to what this show is (I've only seen the Evo/STI episode), it is targeted at your everyday forum member with a modified car and comparing examples forum to forum, head to head. While those guys can no doubt drive the pants off everyone else and have some of the most ridiculous cars around, they are not what this show is about (in my uneducated opinion). I would much rather see a weekend warrior from the motorsports forum enter this as they probably have the most performance oriented modifications and actually know how to drive their car as they autoX and/or track it regularly.
