David does not drag race his EVOs. Dan or Trent usually do the drag racing. David does road race. In his Eclipse I think he went fast enough in HPDE4 to set a track record in whatever TT class that car would be in. To be honest, though, the course they used for season 1 was more of a high speed autocross than a road course. I think a 500HP autocross car would be just as capable on that track as Nils' or Gates' road race car (especially if they were running the same tires they use for track days vs. the Hoosier A6 we use for AX)
I'm sorry if I came off rude, but I think you did misunderstand the type of driver we want. I personally would like to see an above average driver that can drive his/her car to its full potential. win or lose, i just want to know that the person we sent did the best they could have. the guys from season one did themselves and their respective forums a huge disservice by being completely unprepared for what was asked of them during the competition. Also, beating people on backroads is not even close to the same as racing against seasoned competitors in an actual sanctioned event. most people that are dumb enough to race on backroads usually don't have the skills to push their cars to their limits. if they did, any of the cars you listed would be moving at speeds waaayyyy too fast for any backroad. You may want to watch saying things like that too...street racing is strictly forbidden on this forum, and it really is a dumb idea. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for some spirited driving, but there's no way to safely drive your car to it's limits on the street, and as well as you THINK you've driven your car, I can pretty much guarantee that at your first trip to an autocross event, an experienced driver there could smoke you in your own car.

that said, for those of us that already know this, I wouldn't mind seeing two potent autocross cars go at it.
it's all good home skillet
Alright since this is a volunteer army that will be voted on if YOU wish to do this and put your time into it please add your name to the list.

Once we get a good list populated we can start the voting process. R.P. is getting back to me on a cut off date but since filming is this fall its not going to be too soon so we have time to gather people. Like I said before things come up so 2nd and 3rd may have to step up if the top choice has to drop out for any reason.

Just to keep tabs...I assume these are the only 3 volunteers so far?

The real trick here is what exactly is meant by street legal? Because a true street legal (by the letter of the law, not by what you can pawn off on a cop inspection) car cannot have its intake/exhaust/emissions system modified. So you'd basically be talking a stock Evo, with suspension mods and tuning. If RP defines street legal the same as, say, NASA or Red Line does, then it's a whole different ballgame.

street legal depends on the state/county/parish/city/etc, so you can't make a blanket statement like that. Some places judge legality of exhaust systems (or other modifications) by their emissions, others by the noise level, some by both, and some just say ANY modification is illegal. Some places judge suspension modifications based on height of the lowest part of the frame, some from the height of the lowest part of the headlights, etc. Point is, you can have highly modified cars, modified in various ways, and still be street legal. It just depends on where the street is located. So I would assume that if your car has an inspection sticker, it qualifies because you wouldn't have been able to get the car inspected if it weren't legal.
Anyways, my only point is that if RP is going to mandate "street legal", then they are going to have to clarify ... a lot.

I understand that local laws and ordinances heavily play into the issue. However, there are also federal standards, such as this EPA document on catalytic converters. IIRC, there is a similar document talking about the entire emissions system (intake, evap, etc.).
Anyways, my only point is that if RP is going to mandate "street legal", then they are going to have to clarify ... a lot.
