Valentine's Day Disaster

So a group of us here got together after a meet and decided to go on for a ride to one of the many tourist spots out here. The drive involved a 180sx, Silvia S15 Spec-R, Evo 5 (mine) and an RX-7. The first guy lost control of his car due to crappy tires and he crashed into a bunch of trees on the left. The guy in the S15 tried to avoid him by speeding up and swerving around him. Epic fail. He crashed into a guard-rail on the right side of the road. Keep in mind it was dark and there were no street lights. He never even hit his brakes so I couldn't tell that there was anything wrong until I saw the right side of his car. The 1st and 2nd driver had blocked the road so I had to choice but to hit him. The last driver avoided everyone and went off the road into the tree line.

Keep in mind, we're all in the Marine Corps so we were treated like criminals at first because they thought we were racing and driving recklessly; which we weren't. They put me on restriction, impounded my car, took my license and threatened to demote me. After 2 months of investigating we finally get a court date and were found innocent on all charges. However, my command decided their opinion holds more weight than a judge's verdict so I'm still on a curfew, can't regain my license and have to sell the car. They have even given me a deadline.

I have put a lot of time and money into this thing and had plans to bring it back to the States. The damage on mine is minor so I was still had plans to bring it back, but can't. Noone was hurt over this accident, btw.

On to the pics:

The damage I caused is a light tap on the driver's side door (RHD) of the S15. For those of you wondering why they have so much power over us is because we are visitor's here so MP's and the command have jurisdiction over the whole island. Had this happened in the US, nothing would have happened. I have lost a lot of motivation after this.

you need to make sure your head lights are working a try not following so close. If you fail to stop in time....well sorry about your luck.

Why don't you just sell the car to one of your buddies and have him bring it back. Or just ship it back now? You've got options. Use them.

I'd rather not rush into something that can be sketchy. Plus, I still have a IX back in the US so it's not that bad.

Did you sell the original bumper and headlight? Why don't you slap them back on and ship the car back to the states. You really should bring it here. If
anything you can sell it to someone on the board here and make ur
money back.

Well, I've already weighed the options and I'm better off not even attempting to bring it back. There's no way to legalize the actual chassis, so I'd have to strip the car and putting all the parts on a Mirage. After almost losing a lot including my career and putting up with a lot of BS; I don't have the motivation for doing all that work anymore. The damage on the Evo 5 is minor and cosmetic. My best bet is to fix it and sell it.

Wow man that accident sucks but the aftermath sucks worse. I can't believe the military wants to punish you guys to the fullest extent. Is there no trying to resolve this further when you get back to the states? Good luck though and that's one sweet evo
