Looking at an EVO

Allright I have read the stickeys on the forum and have learned a lot about what to look for in the EVO. I am in California and it seems a little tougher to come across a nice stockish EVO. I have been in the rock crawling world for some time now but am kinda tired of driving the Toy around so much. I have found one that I like and want to hear some opinions. It has a cracked passenger seat back and the srs light is on, should I be concerned? He has the carfax and it is clean. He is the original owner and has the records to prove it, 60k mile service was done. It has a downpipe and stock exhaust. A BOV (stupid IMO). The clutch was done at 45,000. I have pics of the inside and it is clean as is the outside. The Cusco coilovers sound cool but I don't really know. Input please. Here is the ad. Thanks in advance.

all evos have a BOV (blow off valve) that is necessary....

so from that post i found that one. that guy is a moron and doesnt know wtf hes talking about.

so this could be a good thing... or a bad thing. depends. it means he could have been easy on it or he could have been hard on it cause he doesn't know wtf is up...but damn 14500 is cheap as hell here in CA.. i would definitely check it out if i was you. there are posts up about what to check for when you buy a used evo. check those and check it out.

Dealing with the SRS may be a bit pricey. (If the light and having no airbags bothers you) Did you mean an A/M bov?

SRS may not be much of a major issue. My SRS light came on due to a faulty sensor. Replaced at the dealer... no problems since.

Car was crashed most likely at some point. Look at the amount of air betwen the hood and the fender on the left side of the picture and compare it to the right side.

Also, what's that red light on the right side next to the steering wheel?

And the main question that was already asked - why is the car a color that was introduced 2 years later if it was never ... Well just ask ^^

I emailed him with the questions on the color and the hood gap. I noticed the hood gap right away but thought it might just be the angle of the pic. Oh and the license plate over the intercooler is funny.

You might just want to take the evo to the dealer and have them inspect it for you. I know its a few bucks but if they find some problems with it, you could save your self a headache or be able to have the price dropped some more. Good luck
