a buddy of mine has a manual boost controller on his evo 8 but he installed his inside the car he just ran longer vacuum hoses. I was thinkin on doing this. Is this a bad idea. any problems i would run into by doing this????

If you search on the forums i believe it does affect vacuum pressure and is not a good idea. I know there are manual boost controllers that are designed for the cockpit. Instead of a vacuum line running through, it runs with a cable that can adjust the boost controller under the hood.

you want the boost controller vacuum lines as short as possible. running lines that long into your cockpit is not a good idea at all. if you want to do something like that get the hallman kit. but its kinda pointless, i mean once your tuned at a certain boost, why would you want to constantly mess with it?

Unless your running dual mapping but at that point I'd go ECU Boost or a proper EBC for ease of switching

true but if your gonna go through the trouble to run more then one map, might as well be prepared and get something like buschurs dual solenoid mbc piece. that way your not turning a knob and hoping your at the right boost when you get on it....

^ Totally agree. Buschurs Soleniod, ECU boost, or a EBC so you can easily switch to the other desired boost level is the only way to go

Long vacuum hose to cabin is dumb.

Just buy the hallman pro in cabin Mbc and be done. The actual mbc and vacuum lines stay in the engine bay. The adjustment knob is in cabin for on the fly adjustment.

That's my next investment.

Like all the posts above, whats the point of having a mbc inside your cabin? What you gonna do, turn it up after losing a race? hehe, if you install one, just do an engine bay install w/ short hoses.

Turn it up to desired level while getting tuned and leave it alone. Both your car and your pockets will be happier in the long run.

if you run more then one map, im sure the boost level wont be the same for both maps though, so thats where you cant just leave it alone after a tune

Well if you run meth like myself the 2 different boost levels makes sense.
Low boost = 28psi / 440whp
High boost = 34psi / 515whp

I rarely turn boost up. It would be nice not having to pop the hood to turn 8 clicks clock wise to get to my level for high boost.
I did try ecu controlled boost(quite a few times) however, it felt slower than when the mbc is Hooked up.
