fp red and black on 2.3 with buschur stage 3 head

I am having a hard time picking the red over the black and vice versa. My goal is 550 to the wheels. I know it is possible with the red. But with the black it would be alot easier. I want to keep my car at around 30 psi for now. But if later down the road I want to turn the boost up and I have the black I can. So I also looking at the negatives for the black. So Far it is he difference in spool up. On a 2.3 how much of a difference is spool up from a red to a black. I am thinking 500 rpm? Can you guys post some pros and cons of both turbos with a 2.3 I just need a deal breaker for one of these cant make my mind up thanks

With a 2.3L and a Black spool wont be too bad. If you need to pass someone just downshift. You wont reach your goal with a Red @ 30psi. With a Black that is gonna get you fairly close to your goal. Black also leaves more wiggle room if you ever want to run more boost. Red you will almost be out of power at that level.

I have a 2.3L with the Red... very nice torque and poweband. BUT, going Black over this fall. Go for the Black first time, you won't be disappointed!

no comparison the black. the spool is like 200 rpms on a 2.0 so the 2.3 will help spool alot lol i had a choice between black and red as i had them both do black as with the right mods 700 is possible.

Go black. my car made 558whp at around 35lbs with the red. Spool up of 2-300 rpms is nothing

This. I did back-to-back dyno runs with a red then swapped to a black (maybe a 4 hour difference in time, so as close as you'll get to back-to-back). The difference in spool was almost exactly 200rpm on the stock block.

Yahu: I shoulda let you do my Green to Red turbo swap in four hours. It has taken me four months and I am still not done yet.

To the OP: Do the Black son! With that 2.3 L. block I wouldn't even consider the Red.

EDIT: Why does Rockman have all of those turbos sitting around on the dinette table in his apartment? LOL
