It may take a few drive cycles to trigger the code again. P0300 codes on the early VIII's are common. Mitsu actually had 2 rom updates to address the issue and what they concluded is that drivetrain harmonics would trigger the code. This would show it's ugly head even quicker with cars with aftermarket clutch combos
For the problematic cars that the rom updates would not fix as Chaotic mentioned best bet is to just have it disabled in the ROM and you'll never have the issue again.
Some other things that I would rule out prior to disabing the P0300 code are:
-Ignition components (Coils, Wires, Plugs)
-Ignition map idle timing. Too high of values in those cells will trigger P0300. These are often adjusted to make big cams play nice at idle
-Ignition map smoothing. As large timing value gaps from cell to cell in the ignition map can also make the ECU throw the code.
When does your car throw the code idleing, around town driving, highway crusing?
If you have tactrix cable and ECUFlash P0300 fix is only a flash away. If you need any assistance PM I'd be glad to help
