Check Engine Light - Code?

I've just pulled up a Check Engine Light on a stock GSR.

When the light came up I was running on empty, so this might have something to do with it .....

The qustion I have is how do you find out the "trouble codes" ect .... PXXXX etc ....

Normally we would recommend stopping in on your local auto parts store and ask to borrow the OBD-II scanner. Don't know if you have that as an option in UAE. Fill it up and secure the gas cap tightly and don't worry about it for a couple days. If it was the gas cap not being tight, it'll go out on its own after a couple days. If not, then you'll need to secure a scanner.

Thanks for the advice. The amount of times I have seen people talking about codes I thought there might be some way of pulling the codes up on the display.

It seems like every man and his dog has a Scanner!

I've spoken to the garage and will take the car in tomorrow morning.... fingers crossed. I was only 5 min from home when it went ....... after it went the car was idling at 2000k and boost/power was restricted .... (not that I pushed it hard, I'm notbrain dead).

Thanks again

If you know anyone who has a programmer for a late model car; that works as well. I have used one for a 2005 Mustang GT. Reads and clears codes just fine.

Mine just threw the light last weekend after I just cleared the periodic maintenance reminder. Talk about jinx. I had just changed the oil, all good and no code looked like it could be thrown by a vibrating skid plate. Its in the dealership now getting demystified. The codes for the EVO I found here:

http://www.roadraceengineering.com/e...l-dtccodes.htm

Nothing looks straightforward and I haven't had time to install my TB mod, so all good for warranty coverage still.

Just got the car back. Aside from being "talked to" about my K&N and dangers that oil presents, the problem was real code and was covered under warranty.

The "code" according to my service ticket, is P01320.

CAUSE: Inspected found code P01320. Electronic Throttle Valve Incorrect Position
13850190 TSB-Engine Module Reprogrammg
506 WM
...16807 Reprogrammed ECU, Cleanred codes and retested Operating as
...designed 13850190 .3 63-D-605

So I need a new OBDII kit to reset codes. Apparently that's all that was wrong -- this time.

Anyone else have this problem? Am I too hard on the pedal? LOL!
