If you put a big enough down payment you can pretty much name your price. I put down 16k and told them I would pay more the 29500. They called the credit app in and within 20 minutes I was filling out the paperwork. The key is just to be informed and having $/credit doesn't hurt either.

Simply go in and tell the dealer your price. If he wont match it leave and do the same until a dealer sells you a car at your price.

Not necessarily. If you're financing through the dealer, they earn more interest on bigger loans. Bigger down payment just allows the dealer to know you're more serious about the purchase, since you already have the money to afford one.

Dealers will never sell a car below invoice, unless they have something they're not telling you that is making them money.

I went through my credit union and let them do the work. Looking at these prices, though...I'm wondering if I didn't get the best deal. I paid 29700 without the sunroof. Maybe just Cali prices? Erggghghh...

how much should an evo sell for if the customer walks in to pay on the spot. just wondering if the cash was availible how much the car would go for.

Common mis-conception that cash makes a dealer smile more. In all honesty, it can COST the dealer more.

I highly doubt that if you came in with a briefcase full of cash, or just a very good credit rating that you'd get any better deal with either situation.

I absolutely Love playing with these car sale MONKEYS!!!!!!!

Knowing the kick backs, and the deals they get through their lenders,,,, you can make them sweat bullets.

Remember....... these MONKEYS didnt make the car,,, they sell a car that 4-5 other dealerships sell, that must be close to you.

Go to each one with the written price the other is going to sell the car to you for, and have them beat it.

I did this with a Toyota truck I bought,,,, went back and forth between 3 dealers.... Finally thought I was getting a good price when I was saving $140/ month and $3000 down, I wound up with 0 down and a much cheaper payment.

Plus the FACT these sale MONKEYS dont know **** about anything they sell,,,,,,, every car I look at I could school them about what it has, what it does and just about anything else they want to know.

I find it very funny, or sad depending on what mood Im in,,,, The last vehicle I bought I just skipped the whole sales monkey roune and went directly to the sales manager,, much better sales experience.

So shop shop shop and then shop again......and if the sales monkeys dont like it, tell them to go bag some grocires, or sell some shoes. All they are are people to hold the door open for you, and ask you if they can help you,,, ya you can help me SHUT THE HELL UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND GET THE FOUCK OUT OF MY WAY!

You're exactly the kind of person that dealerships like to take advantage of. Cocky-ness and attitude will get you absolutely nowhere when it comes to buying a car.

So, I sell cars... and do other things at a dealership. Are you going to tell me that I don't know what I'm talking about? I'd venture to say that any decent sales person knows more about the Evo than even you. You probably just ran into someone new, or someone who didn't care.

People like you are the ones who ruin it for everyone else.

I knew more about the Evo than any salesperson when I bought mine. And I do not even know THAT much. Now the guys in the back turning the wrenches...that is probably a different story. I think (hope) they know much more about the car than me.

But if you want to talk a dealer down -

1) Don't act like an *******
2) Be reasonably firm...key word REASONABLE
3) Don't laugh at their BS
4) Know your ****. Don't go in there saying you can buy a new one for $27,000 when you can't.
5) If somebody else bought one for a lower price, give the guy names and phone numbers so he knows you're not making it up.

I got my Tarmac black with spoiler and sunroof for $28,500. They originally swore they would not sell for under sticker. I guarantee you not many people paid less than I did.*

*excluding people who live out in the middle of nowhere like Kentucky where these cars just do not sell at all

Wow. It's unfortunate to say the least. I don't want to claim I'm david buschur or anything, but I would run circles around you in vehicle knowledge.

I make X amount of dollars irregardless for how much we sell a new vehicle for. Its a game of numbers, if I sell 20-30 cars a month making a set amount, I don't have anything to worry about. Frankly, I love it when a know-it-all comes in. Your wasting your time running around to different dealers. Wasting 20 hours running around costs you money.

Invoice is $28,860 with a roof and a wing.

BTW: For anyone interested, selling cars is a very lucrative and fun job. It requires long hours, but generally its very fun. You hold your destiny in your hands.

This 15-year-old brainchild's next post will be "HAY GUYS MY DEALER KICKED ME OUT AND I CANT FIGGER OUT WHY."

Maybe when you can afford an upscale car you'll meet more professional salespeople who are actually knowledgeable about their products. (Btw, that's not to say there aren't professional Mitsu sales people too.)

Hopefully by that time you'll have grown up, learned some humility, and learned how to control yourself in public.

Until that time I wish you only the most patient and kind salespeople at dealerships that actually care about their customers, because those are the only ones who will put up with immature ****heads like you.

Know your stuff and be prepared to leave your card and walk out - especially when they throw "the worst case scenerio" at you... Found the best you could do is find what you want, and then call and make an offer - they won't leave you on hold for an hour to figure it out... It's then their job to get you to come to them.

Good Luck!
