Ok, there have been so so so so many times I could have answered the questions for these sale monkeys. They would say, i dont know let me ask the manager, buddy ask me I can tell you. This one guy didnt know if a truck had ABS,,,, he was looking at the sticker and couldnt find it,it was right in front of him!!!! Then he didnt know about a certain rebate, or if it had a locking rear end...... All of which I knew I was just making conversation while looking at this truck..

It goes far and beyond this one time,,,, it is like every time!!

oooo anyways, Im sure if your in a car forum, you know about cars. And have a passion for cars,, then you know your BUSINESS.

If you have a passion for what you do , you know your stuff, like most/ all of the sales people in here probably do. But for the most part, the car sales business has so much turn around on help.... I truely feel sorry for anyone getting any kind of help out of these MONKEYS, if they really have a question about really anything. The car sales business is truley a sad sad thing.,,, for the most part. I just have no tolerence for a I DONT KNOW response when you MUST know! For crap sakes ,,,,, ok im done.

Well... To be honest, selling a car requires very basic knowledge. I am a fairly competent mechanic. My father on the otherhand has no mechanical knowledge, no idea what a turbocharger even looks like. Frankly, you don't need to know. The majority of people are "wowed" with his vehicle walk around. Selling isn't about reciting how many horsepower a car makes. As a matter of fact, it has NOTHING to do with it. Unless your buying a specialty vehicle, "geekish" product knowledge is just that.

Having talked to around half a dozen vendors on this board. Some have been VERY knowledgable, but not a single one has "sold" me a product or done a good job at selling.

At a large dealership... 20-30% of the salespeople sell 70-80% of the cars.

So, I sell cars... and do other things at a dealership. Are you going to tell me that I don't know what I'm talking about? I'd venture to say that any decent sales person knows more about the Evo than even you. You probably just ran into someone new, or someone who didn't care.

People like you are the ones who ruin it for everyone else.
went to three dealers, non of them had a clue about the evo, the only thing they said "this is a very fast car" idiots.

best one was at the subaru dealership. looking for a 03 wrx guess what the moron told me

"you know this car has a porche engine in it" idiots

sale people should know everything about a car not just how to keep saying "so lets get the papers ready"

Hi,

new here... anyway, just read through this post. I'm going to be buying an EVO in about 4 months. Reading through this it seems like ~$28,500 is a reasonable offer (roof/wing) @ just about any dealer? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Absolutely. That's about $300 below invoice. If you find that, consider yourself to be getting a really, really good deal.

Hmmmm, going to this page: http://www.edmunds.com/new/2003/mits....1.Mitsubishi*

I take invoice add roof/spoiler and get $27,962 "invoice", I then subtract it from $28,500 and come up with the conclusion that $28,500 is $538 OVER invoice. Is Edmunds wrong?

Sounds like you're forgetting the destination charge.

i doubt it. he just doesn't understand that subarus use the boxer engine "design" under license from porsche. not the actual engine. the deal with the boxer engine is the crankshaft sits high compared to an inline 4, that way they can fit the front differential under the transmission. boxers are the key to subarus AWD.
