I had the very same thing happen to me a few years ago when I used to own a stage 2 04 WRX. As it turns out my MAF was getting incorrect readings. I tried cleaning it but ended up buying a used one off the forums and replacing it altogether. Check your Mass AirFlow sensor (MAF) bro. Good luck

This happened to me on my 1990 Celica, my throttle linkage got stuck. We pulled it straight and spray a little bit of WD-40 on it and it was fine. Have you tried this yet?

this honestly cant be safe. you should find out whats wrong before driving the car anymore. i think it would have to do with throttle.

After reading this I'm thinking "Great, I just bought a used IX".

You really owe it to everyone to either A: report this to Mitsu, they HAVE to investigate according to various laws. B: find the issue if it's something stuck so we can have closure.

Simply bringing it up and not finding a solution is rather scary for us other Evo owners.

not to scare you more, but my friends TPS sensor was going out on his 8, and one day he was driving pretty fast and when he came to brake for an off ramp the throttle got stuck.....we all make fun of him for not pressing in the clutch but he didn't have much time to react before he hit a wall and totaled the car
