blower fan lvl only works on 4

blower fan lvl only works on 4

ok to start i searched and i assume that this is a common issue. but just a few days ago my a\c blower control knob only works on lvl 4 and nothing works below that... any one have any clues? maybe just a faulty unit and needs a replacement?

My first guees is the blower motor resistor is bad....

^^^ +1 thats your problem for sure unless 1 2 and 3 contacts on the switch are worn down so bad they dont make contact but highly unlikly

Just to elaborate, the blower resistor has 3 resistors in it for 1, 2, and 3. The 4th speed runs the fan at full power and bypasses the resistor pack.

So pretty much anytime you see a 1-2-3 failure its the res pack.

+1 its the resistor its located in the top of the heater box behind the glove box. It only takes a couple minutes to replace it i think there is a how to on here some where

great i was hoping it would be an easy fix if that is what the problem is. but yes does any one have the resistance ohms? im still a little unclear, so their are 4 different wires that splice into one coming from the heater controls? and 3 of those resistances are burnt?

no it is a factory sealed unit that the wiring harness plugs into. what happens is the soldier joint comes loose and the speed control circuit becomes open.aka no power to the fan on the speed contrtolled settings. this is a common problem that accures the part is about 100 bucks from the parts store or you can get one from the junk yard from a regular lancer they are the same.
