Coolant issue

Hi guys! For the past few days I have noticed that the radiator cap is making noise after I park the car. Today it was doing the same thing + there were some bubbles in the reservoir but the coolant stays at the same level. Do you think its a cap issue? Help

check the seal on the cap, it could be bad. I would just try a buddies cap and see if it stops.

Remove the radiator cap and inspect the seal. See if the seal has swollen, you can do this by closely examining it and it should be smaller than the base. If the lip of the seal extends past the base then you could begin to have cooling system issues. When that seal swells it doesnt allow the coolant to pass through as easily. The cap can still be faulty even if the seal is good though, fyi.

thanks! I will check the seal tomorrow morning. I will also go to the parts store to see if they have some radiator caps for my car.

If in doubt just replace the cap, shouldn't be too expensive.

I think most people believe a radiator cap lasts the life of a vehicle. I have a cap tester so I know they don't. So, my advice has been to replace the cap when the coolant is replaced. I last replaced my coolant and cap at 60K. At 72K the cap started spewing coolant on top of the radiator - I needed a new cap. Auto parts aren't always what they used to be.

It was the rad cap. The cap was new, I have changed it 6 months ago with new coolant. It was factory too. The reason iam using an auto parts one is because iam waiting for the new one to come in. Thank you for your help guys and Happy Holidays!!!
