Cap turbo coolant lines?

So this may be a stupid question but when i got my 6262 kit installed a few years ago the shop that installed it said that since my turbo is only oil cooled that they would run a hose that loops the inlet and outlet for the old turbo coolant lines. Well this past weekend that hose sprung a leak and puked coolant everywhere. I want to replace it but i was wondering if it would just be better to cap it than to loop it. What does everyone else do when they run a oil cooled only turbo?

Fix the coolant lines the correct way. But if you are in a bind and have to ghetto it, then cap the lines at the thermostat and I would zip tie the coolant lines from the turbo out of the way for now. This would be a temp fix to get you home.

Rubber caps will work fine. They do make specific ones for heater hose and bypass hose connections. They're thicker, use those. Don't use vacuum caps.

The guy saying to "fix it right" is I think not realizing that your turbo doesn't use water cooling.

Ahhh it is only oil cooled, my bad ignore my previous post.

You could weld on -6an fittings to the two ports and use an cap. Or you can pull the tstat and weld it shut and do the same to the water pipe.

i found these, might give these a try they say they are made for coolant pathways so should be resistant to the heat

rubber caps are rubber caps.

my car was down for about a year with vacuum caps sealing my lines up. they should be fine. i'd check them once in a while for cracks, though; they may get warm LOL.

unless someone has a better cap to use, that is. i never really researched anything beyond the vacuum caps.

yep, i have the same kit. those things are invaluable while working around the engine LOL. i didn't realize they were coolant-specific. now i'm curious. i'll have to go look at the box.
