P0300 Code

Random Cylinder Misfire (p0300)

Searched Searched Searched on these forums and Im not coming up with any pin point answer on this. "Randomly" this code popped up this morning when I turned my car on. The car still runs fine but I hate looking down and seeing the CEL light on. I'm not 100% sure if it is bad for my motor either so I would like to repair it ASAP. My mods are listed below.. and I was tuned by Chad @ CBRD exactly a week ago today.

To be honest, I'm surprised to be seeing this on a 2006 Evo. This problem was common on a lot of 2003's and some 2004 Evo's. The problem was simply a false reading that when triggered would actually cause the misfire as opposed to reporting it. I had the exact same problem on my 2003 GSR but if I recall correctly someone found the bits in the ECU that caused this event. They have a flash now for the ECU that omits this entirely. However it is important to note that this was only common on the mentioned older models. It is possible you might actually be experiencing random knock. I would get it checked out before you start disabling safety measures.

p0300 is for random misfire, check your plugs check the coil pack , my car was throwing the same code and it ended up being the rpm were to low and the car would mismire a little.

the missfire code is due to very sensitive sensor. that sensor will be trigger from trans/engine vibrations, the only way to fix it is by getting a reflash at the dealer which will lowers he sensitivity level or at your tuner. It can be done with a tatrix cable, just lower the sensitivity level.

Well my idle is much higher than usual (close to 1k) and I did put cams in about three weeks and a tune a week ago. Im guessing ill get my buddy to take a look at it with his ecuflasand see if he can adjust the idle a little.

+1

Had the same problem with my VIII, mostly when it was colder, a simple correction in the idle zone timing and problem solved! it has been a month no sign of p0300 anymore. usually it was one in two days!

Do you know the exact sensor? I have this problem too, but I've been erasing the code. It only comes up when the revs are high

+2 on this one.
I just installed S2's and got this code right after...like DDB said minor changes to your idle timing zone will fix this.

PO300 is a pretty common code on any evo....

things such as twin plate clutches and so forth can even cause it, and the dealer had reflashes for it too!

I will check your rom to make sure!!!

also, Id have to check which plugs were in your car, but you may want to consider new OEM plugs with a slightly tighter gap!

cheers
