E85 Prices WTF!!!
last summer, in my area, it was 1.30 at the lowest for e85. it is now 2.59 for e80. a new valero station opened up in my buddys neighborhood and i tested that stuff last night. came out to e70 for 2.79
sucks for him. im paying less for higher ethanol content

What makes you say this? They are still producing flexfuel cars for 2011 and 2012, why would the car companies produce cars that run on something that is fading away? I think its the other way around, more cars that are flexfuel capable the more E85 stations we will see
I moved to the Western Slope of Colorado in August and it was 2.09$ gal. It's up to 2.59$gal now and for some odd reason they don't even have a winter blend. They do E-85 year round.
reason; credit price is higher then cash price (normally .05) is because the credit car processing companies charge the gas station (on average) .15 per swipe plus 1.39% up to 5% of total sale.. depending on what type of card rewards wise. this explains why not all places accept american express because they are 5%.
Debit transaction is normally .35 a swipe.
lets say on a $20 transaction. @ $3 a gallon
Consumer side : Lets say u get 7 gallons out of the $20. @ $.05 you save .35 cents..
Retail side;
.15 for the swipe
.40 @2% (average credit card)
thats .55 cents a transaction just at $20.. the gas station is still loosing. imagine how much a store that accepts credit card looses a trans... just imagine how many transactions are there a day at your local station.. in your state? .. these companies are making Trillions without putting anything out.. just ridiculous on the retail side..
for the consumer its great becuase the more u spend the more (so called rewards you get).Wrong just what they wanted you to think. you the consumers are paying for your so called rewards products are priced to cover the surcharges, Credit card processing are making trillions out of nothing, retail gets hit with a hefty bill. its just a big circle we can all avoid by spending cash more then credit/depit cards.
i seem to dislike processing companies

e85 is 2.79 here, and yes its E85 i test it everytime they get a load =)
goverment = GM
the gas station is doing you a favor, they are not making anymore on cash vs. credit..

I'm exhausted reading this, use complete sentences. It's non debatable, a business will always make more money when their consumer pays with cash over credit. Where did you gather this lack of correct information?
ON SUBJECT:
You'll notice every winter there is a price hike at the pump. Fossil fuels cost more then Ethanol, therefore the price per gallon will rise when the winter E70 blend hits the pump. Ethanol isn't going any where, I'll bet everything on that. You CAN expect the method of Ethanol production to change from the ground up within the next 5 Yrs. Keep in mind, as Mike@AWD mentioned, even if the price goes up I'll still buy the product. Our cars respond to it so well I intend on running E85/E98 from now on. Reading comments from someone who tries to compare 93 Octane to E85 I can't take serious. A person cannot compare E85 to a Fossil Fuel Pump gas, it's simply an apples to oranges comparison. $2.44 per gallon in Springfield, Missouri.

i should of proof read it..its just late.
First hand information.. I guess in a gas station's perspective they are collecting pennies off a pack of cigs or a bag of chips.. A swipe on a credit card at $20 will easily cut there profit in half to almost nothing.
Cash transactions is where they make some profit. But in todays world how many ppl use cash over credit? very few..

Am I the only one on here that finds it extremely annoying to get "blended" 10% ethanol gasoline at EVERY pump? What happened to 100% gasoline? Ethanol has less energy associated with it per volume (and weight) compared to gasoline, and now it almost costs the same. What a rip off. I'm not even going to mention about how screwed up blended gasoline makes older cars, bikes and boats run. **** ethanol. If you want to play around with alcohol then do alky injection or buy straight e85, but keep it out of my gasoline.

1.) People wake up and realize they are getting cheated (they are getting less gas mileage).
2.) ethanol production costs will skyrocket to the point of it being entirely obsolete (farming trillions of pounds of corn and turning it into alcohol is more expensive than pumping oil out of the ground).
3.) the resulting price increase of high fructose corn syrup (which is used in everything) and other corn based foods will force the government to impose more taxes on ethanol or its production.
Enjoy it while it lasts I guess, but to me it seems ethanol is doomed as an alternative fuel source.

Yeah I guess thats what the general populous cares about, more power. Nevermind that you are paying more money for less fuel. I wouldn't doubt that 10% ethanol blended 93 has a higher effective octane rating, but why mix it for EVERYONES consumption, even those that are just driving a toyota camry? Ethanol blended gasoline is the biggest scam anyone has ever gotten away with. Ever. If I wanted more octane I'd run straight 93 and then do water/alky injection. Now there talking about rising the 10% blend to 15%. Gas mileage everywhere will collectively get worse as a result, yet everyones pockets will be just as depleted as if it were 100% gasoline being sold...I think eventually one of three things will happen:
1.) People wake up and realize they are getting cheated (they are getting less gas mileage).
2.) ethanol production costs will skyrocket to the point of it being entirely obsolete (farming trillions of pounds of corn and turning it into alcohol is more expensive than pumping oil out of the ground).

The Miles Per Gallon lost when going to a 10% Ethanol blend is so minor it's not worth the subject of bringing up. The Government will not impose more "taxes" on Ethanol. Keep in mind you're using an American made fuel source, not some OPEC Bull****. The United States grows more corn then any nation in the world. Corn is stock piled, also keep in mind the same corn that's used for Ethanol Distillation isn't a food grade crop. There are flaws of both Ethanol and Fossil Fuel. The quality of Gasoline isn't the same as it was years ago. The refinery process has been lacking for a long while now.
