God you're brilliant. Good call, let's dump over $100 worth of fluids out of a vehicle that we may never technically even own. I swear, I think if you ever made one intelligent post with some logical advice or input, I might just **** twice and die.

Here in NYS, legal ownership is established after a vehicle has been in your physical possession for at least 1 year.

As long as its not stolen, it can be titled to the person physically holding the car. Just another form to fill out, takes about 10 minutes to fill out.

Toughest part would be that it is listed in another state as having a salvage history. So in this case the car would have to be inspected at a State facility for safety and emissions compliance. This costs about $300 and has to be scheduled, usually takes about 6 weeks from the application to the actual inspection. It cannot be legally driven there, needs to go on a flat bed. Then if it passes, you can register and properly title it.

So, as long as its not stolen, I know I can get it registered/titled LEGALLY in New York state. Just going to take about 1 year and some transporting of the vehicle.

PM me the guys number and I will be willing to come down to SC, buy the car, and trailer it home. Then 2 months from now I will have an EVO that cost me about $7,000 (unless it needs some work or mods ).

Or, do a little homework and find the last titled owner and "ask" them to file a lost title with their DMV, pay to have it expedited, can be had in a week or so, and sign it over to you.

Would also offer the last titled owner some cash to do this. Maybe $500.

i'd buy it if juan wants to tell me where it is.

im certain the car can be registered one way or another...*cough* donor car.

the parts value far exceed the risk. if it starts up and drives i'm in it.

i'm not gonna get my hopes up cause i think juans smart enough to know a good investment.

seriously, you could easily make money on a simple part out.

obvisously if he cant get a title for it, what makes you think you'll be able to get it registered and get a title for it? chances are something is up with it, and if you were to buy it, you wouldnt legally be able to drive it on the street. either walk right away from it and never look back or low ball him to sell it to you for 4 thousand and just make it a track car. good luck with whatever it is you choose to do. keep us updated

I know this an older thread, but this car recently surfaced again for sale on Craigslist in Simpsonville, SC. It now has 40,000 miles, was priced at $9000, & still has title issues.http://greenville.craigslist.org/cto/3191617633.html
Just wondering if juan bought &/or sold the car, & to make sure someone does not get stuck with an albatross. Thanks.
