Found an EVO for 6K but it has no title :/ 34k mile UPDATE: VIN and Pics post 45

about two years ago a neighbored bought a 03 EVO for 17K from Ebay, he drove it for a little bit and then the car sat in his driveway for about 2 years. I been thinking about getting an EVO and I finally got a chance to talk to him about it.

He said, that the guy that sold him the car signed the title in wrong line and that he cannot get it register. He said that he has being trying to get it register in South Carolina for about two years. The car has a salvage title with no frame damage according to him and it has 34K miles. It has a EVO IX front bumper EVO 9 and some basic mods.

I don't have any info as of right now other than that, I gave him my email so he can sent me the info. I hope is not stolen . If is not stolen I may pull the trigger and offer him 4.5K cash. Anyone know how I can get a title for it? I been reading for a little bit and it seems that is kind of easy to get a car without title register in Georgia.....

Even if I cannot get it register it seems to me like a good deal, I think I can buy a rolling shell with a title for 4K and put the drivetrain and stuff in that one. am I crazy?, any ideas?

Thanks

Juan Medina

I checked out the SC DMV web site to see if they have published a protocol for this instance and there wasnt much.

I would bite the bullet and stop by a local DMV and just ask. Perhaps an affidavit would work.

I realize that the price and mileage would make it seem VERY tempting, but I'd more than likely stear clear of this one. If your neighbor really spent $17k he probably tried everything in his power to get it registered so he could drive it. If that is the case, what do you think would make your case any different? Sounds extremely suspicious. Good luck in your decision OP

I know a few people that have bought titleless cars and used the AAA - they can work magic there.

Now thats a funny lie lol, he could have signed the guys name himslef and the DMV would have never even noticed, cause they dont care. They pay attention mostly to the new buyer's name and how much they paid for it so they can tax ur a$$. I say if the car is not stolen BUT u still can not get a title just buy it anyways and turn it into a auto x car or drag car, for that kind of money why not.

I agree, thats why I think if is not stolen I can take everything out the car and put it another shell and sell the shell without a tiltle for race only.

Or try to get the car register at another state, like the rich do

I will, I am going to try to talk to him tomorrow and take a look at the car and check the VIN number on the engine and tranny etc.

So he paid $17k and now he wants $6k and it sat for 2 years? That's too good to be true and most of the time if it's too good to be true theres something wrong
