Shakes at 40 mph

Well it snowed again Wednesday night again in NJ. Left my car in the cold the whole day on Thursday. Today i had to go to school to i warmed up the car for 10 mins, I put it in reverse and i heard a big CLUNK noise. I thought maybe the brakes were frozen so i went on. I turned onto the main street and when i start to come close to 40 mph the shakes like crazy! It could be it that the tires need to be warmed up since i only drove 2 miles. Ill update this later because im typing this in school.

If you have summer tires on the car and they had flat spots from the cold that could be it. Your tires may need to be rebalanced. And you may have cupping/feather of your tires.

It is mostly related to tires though.

+1, its amazing how the tiniest bit of snow can throw off the balance and really make the ride unsettling.

Tire balance problem for sure. Same thing happened to me the other day when I had to plow out of my driveway, had to kick the ice off of the rims.

Yea it cleared away, did some driving during free periods at school. Also the rear driver wheel had alot of snow on the inside, friend cleared it and that fixed it. I wouldent have never guessed that some little amount of snow could do that haha.

The evo 8 is the most sensitive car to throwing off the balance that i've ever seen. Happened when I had my evo 8 alot in the winter.

whenever it snows I am always at the car wash power spraying the wheels and the underside because of the ice pack/shake issue. Just something you learn to deal with
