Granted Rotas are a bit more popular in the Honda world, but I have a set of 15" rota slipstreams on my Integra and think they are excellent for the price.

IMO, Rotas are always too heavy. Most any 17x8 Rota weight more then just the reg EVO enkie rim and 4-6lbs more then MR BBS.

I dont like replacing rims with same size rims that are heavier.

I can't find any pics at the moment. I used a grinding wheel to trim flat the bumper/fender seam just past the bolt on my bumper. I have a JDM rear, not sure if it's the same as the USDM or what you have. Then drilled a hole behind where the original bolt was and put a zip tie in as a bolt replacement. I also slightly pulled the rear fender towards the bumper seam. I had originally just rolled the rears flat but it still rubbed. Bad. The bolts gotta go. Also used a "evodave" type front fender spacing kit for the fronts along with a 5mm spacer. No rubbing at all aside from front fender liners under hard cornering now. Hope that helps

Sorry to thread jack, carry on

I have seen big named people run rota's while on the track with no issues. As far as weight, I cant speak on that. I personally like Rota's because their wheels look good and its affordable. I will be ordering some Rota Grids here in the next few days, but will be using them as I daily drive my car. I wont use them on the track, because I have Volks for that. But I honestly dont see anything wrong with the wheels.

I think Rota's are nice and doesn't poke a big ole' hole in your wallet. Many people DD so I guess it's perfectly fine with them and the wheels are holding up.

For the same money, I'd rather have RPF1s, atleast its an original design, light, strong and made in Japan. AMEs, Wedsports and certain Advans and Volks can be had for not much more than Rotas. im not knocking Rotas, but I'm just laying it out in logical terms.

There is a guy selling brand new 17x9.5 Advan RCs in gold $1250obo. Saw another guy sell mag blue 18x9 RE30s for $1500obo a few weeks back. You don't have to be rich to ball, just gotta know where to look and be patient.

I'm in the same situation. I've always been very picky about my rims on my past cars and was even stupid enough to order a set of brand new iForged rims for my previous Audi. I drove on them once in the rain and there was still a bit of sand on the ground (I didn't drive the car in the winter) and it took the clear coat off all the lips in one 15 min drive. If it was a set of $500 rims I really wouldn't have been as upset as I was, so this is what's making me consider Rota's. Less heart breaking to destroy a $200 rim than it is to destroy a $800 rim

If you can afford volks rock 'em. I myself go for quality and thus the volks. I'm sure that rota guys are content and so i'm not knocking them as it is what you want. and though it's not the best quality, it's still pretty damn good. i also have an OEM JDM rear, why because I want to and can afford it. Lots of people do get the real deal because they want the rareness and exclusivity of them, though they are everywhere if that even makes sense.

I see a lot of Rota guys offer up their wheels + cash for Volks all the time here as well. It's funny because they rep rota hardcore until they find a good deal and ditch them for Volks. It also happens the other way. It's all what you can afford at the time because wheels are wheels.

And rota is only a replica in design as Rota is cast and Volk is forged.

+1

I run the RPF1s. They are about as cheap as rotas, but lighter, stronger, etc.

Also, another great cheap, light, strong rim is the Kosei K1 TS.

Wow, thanks for all the informative info guys, this has helped me greatly. Good to hear the pros and cons of ROTA wheels and what you guys think of the other big brands like VOLK, Advan, Enkei etc. Also good to hear your personal pros and cons about buying each of the wheels I've listed from personal experiences with them.

Currently I'm running Evo MR BBS rims on hankook winter ipikes (though I barely drive in the winter at all) and figured I wanted to go 18" for the spring/summer. This ultimately led me to the Advan RS rim, which I think looks great. The downside however, was the price to me as a new set costs 3X as much as most other rims. Also hearing they are not forged, but cast rims from other friends that own them made me think twice about them.

My Evo is more of a weekend toy as I barely drive during the week. This is making me lean more towards a mid level rim as I don't track my car and therefore don't need super light weight high end rims.

As spring creeps ever so closely I'll make my decision.

thanks guys

In all seriousness, MR BBS wheels are awesome for their weight, strength and design, even if the width and offset leave much to be desired. Good deals come by all the time, just save up and check the private classifieds often.

Yes, the stock BBS' are excellent wheels - strong and ~18lbs with lugs. What's wrong with their size and offset? There's a whole slew of factory engineers, working on this platform for multiple generations, testing endlessly, who didn't think as little of the setup.
