I didn't say the same thing as you; my comment contained actual information. It's called having a discussion.

These are your words:

The red stitching was available on the SE and on the MR with the Appearance Package. Compared to the MR, the SE didn't come with the 6-speed and the Bilstein suspension. It also didn't have every possible accessory tacked onto it, but they were available as options like on any other Evo. Is there anything else you'd like to know?

Just make that the maintenance is up to date regardless of the Evo you purchase. The 60k service can cost $850 (belts, waterpump, labor).

I don't really know why you're acting like this. First, you're seemingly unable to read the words right in front of you. Then, you come back with an attitude and when one replies on-point, directly citing the words you, yourself, typed, you get upset again.

Or, things could have gone differently. You could have said that you misunderstood and kindly asked for additional information. The choice was yours. Live with it.

most people love to down play the 6sp and say its weak which is a false statement, most of those people own a 5sp and never driven the 6sp! the 5sp def has its share of problems i now cause i had two 5sp gsr's one was a 04 and the other was an 05 both where new and never modded and i had problems with synchro's and 3rd gear grind's on both cars let alone the trans being really touchy.. now i have a 06 mr 6sp well modded that i put 50k miles on and i have to say the ride quality is 10X BETTER!! between the oem bilsteins and the smooth 6sp that was what made my decision to get the MR and i haven't had any problems with my 6sp at all even after putting down 407whp 380wtq

to the OP if your looking to mod the hell out of it and make big power then i would say to def get a gsr/rs/se but if you plan to daily drive the car and only make 100whp 100wtq over stock numbers then id say check MR out for sure

also shep is rebuilding/beefing up the 6sp now so keep that in mind!

6sp>5sp

I don't know how you can say this, when 6-speed failures have been documented ad nauseum. Yes, the failures can occur only when specific constraints are met, but to say that it's not ultimately weaker is a little silly.

If you're ruling out the MR (which I did), then the SE is generally your best bet. To cut to the chase:

IX: steel roof, 17" Enkeis, non-HID headlights
SE: adds aluminum roof, 17" BBS Diamond Black wheels (same design as MR wheels), HID headlights, red seat stitching
SSL: adds sunroof, HID headlights, full leather interior, upgraded 340-watt, seven-speaker sound system
RS: adds aluminum roof, triple-gauge cluster; lacks sound deadening, power locks, power windows, stereo, aluminum pedals, wing

Even though the MR has six forward gears, it is actually rated lower in terms of both city and highway mpg, possibly due to the fact that the MR is actually heavier, most likely a result of the transmission.

He was actually building onto your statement, not refuting it.

im speaking from first hand experience, ive had problems with two different 5sp's and the 6sp i have now that shifts like butter from day one and made 170whp 145wtq over stock number with 50k miles has not shown any weaknesses! i seen a few modded MR over a 100k

my point is, if your not going to heavily mod your evo then the 6sp is a great choice..

Not to disagree with you, but for me personally, it wasn't the choice for me since I couldn't really justify the price difference (which was several thousand dollars when they were brand new in showrooms, as I had purchased two IXs within a year) considering the added performance was minimal, if any, while the fuel consumption was actually lower, considering it actually has a sixth gear with a ratio more suited for cruising. Obviously no one buys an Evo to worry about gas, but it should've at least had that over the 5-speed Evos, considering its hardware. I saw no reason for me to get it, especially once the IX SE came out.

Again, I'm not saying that the MR isn't a great choice... I'm just saying that even if you're not going to mod heavily, that doesn't mean that a 5-speed Evo falls behind the MR.
