I'll take one

I didn't wan't to screw up the paint so if anyone needs to they can open the door by popping the trunk, opening the side compartment cover, then pulling on the release cable that runs to the door on the inside of the car. Just hold onto the cable, reach out and flip open the door. Should see it shimmy when you have the cable pulled enough.

Once you get it just toss it out and get a buckle spring fold it on the gas cap and never worry about it again ever.you can get one from home depot.

I had the same problem when I bought my evo. The spring/clip wasn't broken but kept on popping out. I ordered a new one from STM and it clipped on pretty good for like 2 months and now its popping out. The clip isn't broken, but why isn't it staying on the gas door? Any suggestions?

note: I think the plastic piece that clips onto the gas cap keeps bending out, but I'm not entirely sure.

You do realize that post is from 2 years ago. Its a 1.50 from the dealer. Mine broke last week. Too lazy to go to the dealer twice (once to order again to pick up).

It is annoying.

Go to home depot and get a turnbiuckle spring and tick it in the gas flap door never have to look back again. The way that it pops open kind of reminds me of a jet fighter refueling

I think I'll try that. It would be nice not having to stuff a microfiber towel under the lever.

I've purchased two of these so far and I get the same result. After the second fill up it will pop off and fall to the ground. Should I just super glue/epoxy the damn thing?

I had the same problem as everyone else here right when I purchased my Evo. Little clip for $3 from the dealership. Thankfully I haven't had any issues with it popping out I'm sure it will one of these days though haha
