Question on Ethics... please help
I would try to get the car back as soon as possible, regardless of what state it is in.
Create a file and document all phone calls, work orders, emails, etc. about the transaction, the blown headgasket and such. Have two sets of the file, one for you and one for the attorney should you go that route.
Your basic claim would be a contractual violation, with perhaps a property damage claim. I don't know what the laws are like in Connecticut, so you might want to google about it. Some states only honor written contracts while others like CA will enforce verbal and written contracts.
I would also try to recover the costs of the blown headgasket since he damaged the car. You may also be entitled of loss of use, which again depends on the state of venue. If this guy has a reputable business he may have a liability policy that you may be able to make a claim against, if not you will want to obtain information about him. If there are no assets to recover against, you will be better off getting the car back and eating the costs, unless you want to be vindictive and get a judgment against him which will only cost you more money.
Good luck.

Why don't you talk to the owner of the actual shop and see what he can do form you, if anything. I know the shop owner and tuner, neither are crooks and will do what is right....it just may take awhile. I'd suggest calmly going to the shop and speaking with the actual owner. This thread is doing you nor anyone else any good.
I didn't mention names because I don't think its fair to call someone out in front of the community that they make a living in, but enough is enough. I'm tired of being pushed around and ignored.

Probably gonna need it.
In his defense, I think he's a great tuner, he just takes on too much at once. I somehow got thrown on the back burner and no one ever seems to remember that I exist.
The thing is though thats not your problem. you payed your money and you deserve to be treated and respected as a great customer, it doesn't matter how good of a tuner he is if he can't even do his job completely and neglects his customer. shoot, he shouldn't take on so many jobs and the ignoring stuff is no excuse, it would take him ten seconds to explain himself and say man sorry I can't get to your car.

He blew it up and blamed it on me basically. He said headstuds weren't torqued to spec. I paid him $1200 to pull/reinstall the motor, $500 in machine shop fees, and I paid the $600+ to get new pistons that he suggest I replace.
I hate seeing things like this, 2 shops this year screwed me and my friend, they screewed my buddy on his build. The shop quoted him a price then he went to pick up and the price went up over 2k and his ran like a POS, and my car a shop ****ed up my motor and tried to cover it up and gave me the car back and when trying to get a hold of the owner he was never in or never at work... Then the shop closed down.
I recommend just sue him and get on ur way. There are so many shops out there that get away with stuff like this, make an example of him
cheers

It sucks man. I had dreams of the car making 600+ awhp, and I believe my setup should make that and then some. Now I just want it back, even if its in pieces. Even that seems out of reach at times
