FP green, 280s, falls flat top end!?

Ok so i recently purchased an EVO 8 with an old school FP Green, TBE, intercooler piping, dejon intake, and HKS 280s. And 880CC injectors for supporting mods.

It is boosting about 22-23psi and holds till redline and drives almost identical to stock in terms of spool.

The thing is, that from 4k-6k it pulls, well like it should for the mods, but after 6k it just falls FLAT on its face, and it doesnt matter if i shift at 7k or 7.5k it is just not pulling like i believe it should.

My first though is that it desperetaly needs a re tune, it seems like it just goes pig rich, does anyone have any input on this? or is the fpgreen just done at that kind of RPM.

Any input is appreciated, and one last thing, since it has the cams on the stock valvetrain am i pushing it too far with the occasional 7500 rpm shift points?

Also before this i had an 03 evo with a tbe and manual BC, and also an 05 with tbe, intake, manual boost controller and 10.5 hotside that dynoed 310whp, so i am basing my expected performance off of my prior EVOs.

Not that I have any insight on this but I'm in the same situation. With the old FP Green, about 6k its done.

I was afraid of that, it wasnt my first guess because it holds boost dead steady till i shift, no tapering of any sort, but yea its still very much a small turbo.

are you logging boost or just looking at your boost gauge? Gauges are usually not a true representation of actual boost.

unless your logging boost & afr's, your totally shooting in the dark.

do you know the full extent of your mods? an o2 housing will help up top as well.

Oh yes, forgot about that, i have an after-market 02 housing, and i will do some pulls today and keep an eye on my AFR gauge.

Cant log yet since i do not have the obd2 to usb cable yet but if i cant find one today i will order it offline.

That turbo doesn't even start to wake up until 26 PSI. With an upgraded FMIC and a good tune you should be able to run 26 PSI on 93 octane pump gas.

Since you're close to AMS do a custom tune, I wouldn't do an email tune at all. If you plan on doing a lot of datalogging send them to Mellon tuning and that would be your best option.

it probably just needs a great tune to wake it up. I made 395-405awhp on 93 octane with my old school green setup and I have a few customers up there too. My car went 11.7@118 if I remember correctly, just street tires so no amazing 60' time and that was lifting to shift.

We do e-mail and road tunes and if anyone is feeling unsure about the e-mail tune option they should do a search for threads with mellon in the title to see some results. We're very good at what we do
