Evo's insured with Progressive

Anyone know or hear anything about their "Snapshot Program"? From what I read, it's a device that plugs into the obd port and records/moniters driving habits, time and distance the vehicle is driven. Supposedly it can give you up to 30% discount? Any thoughts on using this? Wondering if would benefit anyone that don't daily drive their Evo?

I can see this being useful to guys with garage queens or show cars for sure. But if you DD your Evo and drive sporty it might not be the best option.

I have progressive and I dont drive mine that often plus you can unplug it whenever. It moniters hard braking, time of day driving, and how often you drive. They moniter you for 30 days and analyze and give a discount I guess then after 6 months they lock your discount in and you dont need the thing anymore. I'm figuring since you can unplug it at times you could trick it a lil bit and hopefully get a better insurance price. I'm really considering checking this thing out. BTW my EVO is a DD.

I use Progressive. I would never have anyone monitor my driving habits just to save money. Who knows, they could use that data to somehow deny you coverage when you really need it.

^+1. And who's to say that thing is accurate? Them? What do insurance companies consider safe driving? How does that thing know the current road conditions or speed limits? And how does it monitor other drivers stupidity? For example someone else not paying attention slamming their brakes making you do the same? To much unknown and it may bite u in the ***. They might decide to raise your premium after deciding. And for the trailer queens and those who don't drive their cars all the time im sure your car has to be running for this thing to operate and if u go thirty days letting the car sit they will say its not enough info lol. Their is insurance already for cars that don't get driven as often. My buddy has it on a show vehicle its a bagged and body dropped tahoe he pays maybe 600 a year full coverage but the vehicle is limited to how many miles he can drive a year. I think its 10k miles and they do check the mileage. This may be a better option.

You got a point there. I guess it might seem as it's a benefit now but could cost you in the long run.

I dont want the insurance company judging my driving, just seems for another way for them to void my coverage.

Ive used this program through progressive, and my insurance went up!

They monitor everything, speed, braking, miles, ect...anything exceeded goes against you.

progressive is the worst insurance company there is. Im in the auto collision field and progressive gives such cheap rates due to their repair process. Using used or aftermarket parts against customer demands. They are FAMOUS for attempting to repair panels/damage parts that should be replaced, even against customers and repair shop orders. its their special practice of ''saving money'' . thats why rates are so low.

Dump progressive.
