break-in built motor question!!!
Read these, you need about 20 miles to break in your engine, change the oil and your done.

either
a) you didnt search
b) your mechanic doesnt know and should have told you
but, 500+ miles on non synthetic to allow all the gaskets and rings to properly seal.
city driving. dont get on it. preferably nothing above 5k rpms

oh i didnt even ask my mechenic yet lol.... but thanks for the input
If your mechanic says nothing over 5k rpms, or baby it and drive around town you had it built at the wrong place sir. On mine my builder said warm it up, make sure the tunes good, drive it hard but dont beat on it, change the oil at 20 miles and your good, but he had nothing to worry about because he knows engines. Buschur seems to have the same view.

like i said i didnt ask my mechenic yet... this is jus poped in my head now and i dont feel like calling him at midnite to bug..... so i decided to see what ppls idea about it... but yea i read the buschur thread on highboostforum, he said 20miles also so imma do the same
I would do as your engine builder says, I have tried everything from 40miles to 1000miles and everything in between and have found no diff in the engine,
Its down to the machining IMO, I currently use the 40miles and start mapping to full boost and have never had a problem.

I've used the advice from that mototuneusa site its pretty informative and he has a lot of experience. I've done 3 motors very similar to that advice. Realistically there is no correct method/answer, only experience.
In general I think about it like this, you get your brand new engine built by a shop and tuned, do you really think they break it in for 500 miles? No with in the first 50 miles that thing is on the dyno making mad power, if it is going to blow up, its going to blow then.
Also for example, in extreme performance OEM vehicles (supercars) the engines goes through performance validation on an engine dyno before they are even put into the cars. Its a similar conditon, they are warmed up on the dyno, goes through some series of tests and break in period and than WOT for various tests.... than the OEM dealer tells you to baby the car for the first 1k miles or something similar (some of that is transmission and diff break in too)

There are many different ways of practicing this.
My personal favorite for a DD performance engine. All street driving you want to vary RPM.
100mile Nothing above 3k (Change Oil)
250miles Nothing above 4k (Change Oil)
500miles Nothing above 5k (Change Oil)
500Plus check tune then.......WOT FTW

I like BR's methodology and it works for all the motors they build and its not like they have a bunch of engine failures. They start the motor up. Make sure everything is good. I think he may drive it for a bit. Do an oil change and then put it right on a dyno.
Engine builder/machine that built your motor will tell you what they think...go with that.
