vortex generator=pos

I throw 5th gear and hit about 140 when i here a loud pop. so loud i think its a backfire but when i get off the highway i see that the vortex generator cracked and an entire half of it is sticking vertically in the air. it looks horrible.

i have a ww evo. should i buy another black vortex generator or a carbon one. and how can i prevent this from happening.

Might want to lose the street racing references before the mods close this thread.

anyone know what adhesive is recommended? I've had a friend tell me about some 3m adhesive promotor, I'm actually going to look for that today because I want to finally install my VG & gurney flap this weekend. I will be doing 140mph too so it needs to stay on there!

Not sure how many options there are for a completely removable adhesive...thats the point of using the 3m ds tape. If you properly clean both surfaces and firmly apply and hold each section for about 30 sec on a nice warm day, there's no reason it will come off. I've had my rexpeed (not cf, but the painted ABS) on with ds tape for over 5 years now, rain and shine. And yes I have had it up around 140 numerous times

3m adhesion promoter is normally what the factory used on any mating surface for DS tape.

I couldn't find 3m adhesive promoter at my local autoparts store but I did find 3m double sided tape that says its used for trim and some other type of 3m paste adhesive that is used for the same. bought them both but not sure which one I should use... or if I should use both.

Go to rexpeed.net i think thats where i got mine. My first one from someone else had the same problem. except it flew completely off and smashed across another vehicle. My new one just has a lot of 3m double sided tape. ALOT of it. Just incase. no problems except i didnt lay it down correct the first time.
