The shop we most often visit here in Socal quoted us for 3,500 for a complete rebuild plus I forget what the term is but has something to do with re doin the head and block or something like that.

Well here's another suggestion: Buy a beater.

200K is ridiculous.

Better his car than yours, if you're worried about getting a beater.

But I don't see it as a bad thing... it's good to see that these cars can stand up to the test of time, especially with the IX, since most of the higher extremely high-mileage Evos are typically the older ones (like 4RETECH's 2003) that are just getting close to that age considering slightly higher than normal annual mileage.

If you plan on it running another 200k, then just buy a new short block. Most rebuilds never last as long as a factory assembled motor and you already know the OEM stuff will last.

Thanks.
I surelly reccomend you get a fresh short block from mitsu for around $2,700 and call it a day, or long block for a little more,,, built engines are just headachs.

This.

If you put 200K on the car I'm assuming you use it as a grocery getter, DD, and everything in between. Looking at the mods in your sig, you're pretty much 95% stock and that's why the car lasted as long as it did with so little problems. There's a high likelihood you'll lose the reliability when you start playing with more than bolt-ons. It'll be even more of a headache if you don't troubleshoot and/or do your own work.

Whatever you do, good luck and nice milestone!
