Help..Blinking CEL under boost!?

Hello how's it going I'm fairly new to my Evo it has basic bolt ons. Under boost the CEL blinks steadily then goes away then if I shift and boost again it comes back some times it blinks faster then others...I was wondering if this has happened to any other Evo owner out there! Thanks for looking and thank you for your help!

That's probably Knock Count in your Tune. You should have the map looked at by a reputable tuner.

Tuners use your CEL as a knock counter. take it back to get the tune looked at

If it blinks slow sometimes and fast sometimes its definitely the knock CEL flash being set.

Figure out what?? Not ask who?? We are telling you what is going on. Rom is modded so that the CEL will blink with knock sum

There are parameters to set

Over a certain RPM
Over a certain Load
X amount of knock counts for slow blink
X amount of knock counts for fast blink

Figure who has a cable and ECUflash who is familiar with it becaue I am not. I know you all are telling me what is going on and I appreciate it. But I personally can't do anything because for one I don't have a cable and two I'm not familiar with the program and probably would make matters worse. Thanks for your input.

From the factory the SES does not flash. For it to flash someone has to program it to do so.

The engine has a knock sensor. When the sensor tells the ECU that knock is occurring the ECU will reduce timing and boost to protect the engine. Reducing timing and boost also reduces horse power.

A good tuner will endeavor to reduce knock as much as possible in order to allow the engine to make as much horse power as possible. It is also a common tuner practice to program the SES light to flash when knock is occurring. This to tell the owner that knock is occurring.

does this tuner actually have good experience with evo's? are you sure he didn't just download some roms and tweak them for your car and thus would have no idea the SES flash was set up for knock?

Just checking.
