Pulling a jet ski with an EVO

So i have a 2003 evo and I want to put a hitch on, have been looking around on what other people are doing, I dont plan on pulling anything crazy it would be a one place Seadoo trailer, or at most the 2 place Seadoo trailer.

All i would like to know is anyone done this, does the Lancer one just bolt right up? I have read on the 2004 it bolts right up but not too sure. If you have any input on how to do it or have done it before.

I would love to have it how the AMS one is behind the rear licenses plate, but not really sure how they did it. I do have a welder and a shop but not sure how i would support the brackets.

I've seen an Evo with a trailer and sportbike on it. it's not a bolt right up thing. Youhave to have the stuff welded on and a hold cut near the bottom of the bumper. but it has been done before.

I just put one on made by member rallytrack. Bolts right up, no cutting or welding of anything. Got a wiring harness that I spliced in. Seems like everyone here gets flamed for this, but I like a do it all car. Just got the evo and the hitch and have only towed my 350lb trailer once so far to Home Depot for something light but large. I'll be towing my 300lb bike next week and don't expect it to be an issue. The hitch that goes through the plate area would be awesome, but the small amount you can see below the bumper doesn't bother me for as often as I'll be towing or putting on my mountain bike hitch rack. You could take it off easily if you'd rather have a totally clean look.

Looking for a 1 1/4" hitch plug with a Mitsubishi emblem. Haven't found one, might just make one.

I really do want to flame all of you that are making your Evo's trailer kings... but I must admit... it's nice to have you lads doing the dirty work so I can TELL people that I COULD tow a whole buncha crap with this car if I wanted to.

That said... I don't think I could tow anything with my car. It's "too high performance" as stock for me to feel comfortable with some lightweight wrecking ball tied up to the rear end.

But hey... someones gotta be a hero.

I want a Tow Hitch Setup so bad but no one makes one. The best thing i saw anyone do was cut a square hole in the center of their crashbeam. Then welded the receiver in the hole. The hole lined up with the rear plate then they could hide the hitch at anytime. Just had to un pin the ball and bolt plate back on.

Someone told me the regular lancer hitch would bolt right up but i doubt it.

Nothing wrong with using it as a car.I built my hitch and trailer so I could carry my R-comps,jack and other crap to the track......

Added bonus is hauling all manner of other crap around.......

Close on 1500LBS combined weight(trailer/load) above.

To each their own.

Next year I'm probably gonna get a small camper for overnights at tracks/events.......whatever it takes to get my "high performance" car out there at events.
