Just got, buying, reviewing, thinking about a new Evo [Ultra Hyper Mega MERGE]
I'm glad your happy with your purchase.
I went back and forth between the Cobra and the Evo (Thinking I'd never own an Import) and am happy with the choice I made.
AWD is awesome. There's nothing like being able to put the power you want to the ground without sticky tires.

The Cobra had major issues with wheelhop as well! I will not miss that at all. I had to take her in twice to have the rearend fixed from leaking. Also, the early ones (mine included) had a defective left cylinder head between #7 and #8 cylinders... Had to have the Left cylinder bank replaced... The car hauled **** though! Pulled several F1 cammed Z06s from a roll.. Lost to a few as well have to say...
Being a family man myself, you will really be happy with your purchase when you get stuck in nasty weather with the family in the car. I can't tell you how much better the car feels on wet, or icy roads than a 2wd vehicle... not to metion after a few upgrades, showing the loser the (empty) baby seat in back
Me and my dad went and picked an evo this morning
One of 5 BBY Evo8s in Wisconsin. Ended up getting it for $27k even out the door , with sunroof and an extra set of floor mats !
Cant wait to pick it up. I must say, its a ****in blast to drive! I couldnt get over the refinement of the powertrain, hard to beleive its a Mitsu
(No offense DSMers.)
On another note, can anyojne tell me if the back seatcan be easily removed( the top half)? There will be times when We will have to carry a wheel chair and O2 tanks in the back for my mother who is ill, and it would make things alot easier if we were able to take the backrest portion of the rear seatr out quickly and easily.
Awesome forums btw!

I'm pretty sure that even if you remove the top half of the back seat it still won't be totally clear from the trunk. I think EvO's have a structural brace behind the seat. I just went out and looked in my trunk but you can't see it because of the interior trim. Hope I'm wrong.
Well, a few things went into play here to get the price.
First of all, my dad was the purchaser of the car, not I. Recently I was in an Accident that totalled our NIssan XTerra, then to lay insult to injury, we had a house fire the following weekend claiming 100% interior and structural damage. Luckily we were insured, and received renters insurance payments as well as 16$k for our xterra, this allowed my dad to drop about 9k into the payments in one day. As for how we got the 27K price..... We were in the dealership (my father and I) last Tuesday and a salesman made the comment that the Evos werent selling very well at all, and that they have had a white one on the lot for almost 2 months. I asked him about the price and he told me $26.5K with taxes included. In disbeleif my dad and I thought it was a beacon of hope in the cloud of **** weve been seeping in, so we took advantage of what the guy told us.
Luckily, they had gotten a BBY evo in yesterday, so I rushed to let me dad know, and we went to the dealership today to drive it and get it. Our salesmen at the dealership (Boss of Sales rep who quoted me 26.5$
) took us inside and proceeded to tell my dad it was going to be 28.2$k all said and done. SO my dad got up and left.
The salesman came out to the parking lot where we were getting in the car and asked my dad "How close to 28k can you go?".
My said "your salesguy told me it would be 26.5k total, and Im not gonna pay over 27$k".
My pops then started the car and started to close his door when the rep said. "SOLD"
It was an unreal deal, and I was lucky enough to call the dealership to ask if they had any other colors coming inthe day they got the BBY in
As for interest rates for the payments, my dads credit union gave him a loan with a 2.9% fixed rate
Man, I think we just bought the cheapest New Evo to date !
Plus, we had about $1400 woorth of aftermarket stuff on our xterra that was salvageable, so an Exhaust, intake, and ECU should be on in no more than a month.

Your dad must be a veteran car buyer. He played that one perfectly. When I bought my Maxima I had the sales manager follow me out to my car shouting offers. Got a $30,500 car for $24,500 plus taxes! Its amazing how desperate they get when they thought they had the sale and then you get up and leave!

seriously....that was really well done. They also know that for everyone one of those there are 5 that pay whats in the window because they dont want to offend anyone in the dealership
