I like my Evo, but I have been seriously looking at the Geo Metro as a more serious replacement and alternative to the Evo. The Evo is nice yeah and it is fast, but high speed and hard turns gets boring and sooner or later, you want class and style - both of which the Geo Metro has in amazingly high amounts.

Besides, the Evo is already a good performer. Where is the fun in that? Modding the Geo Metro would be an uphill battle - but when I can get a 1/4 mile in a Metro in less than 20 seconds, then it's all downhill from there. Hide your cars, hide your women, cuz IT'S OVER.

wonderful!

I'm glad you took the EVO out through the paces via a test drive. It really looks like you know what you're looking for.

Do you like to mod? That's an area where the EVO really, really, shines. The 4G63 powerplant already has a wealth of information on it, and reasonable prices to can get some pretty heafty upgrades for it. For a 'minimal' cost, you can be turning laps with Porsches.

Good Luck,

Cheers,

jcnel.

You should have considered getting a Hyundai Excel and drop in a 4G63T.

A boost controller would fix the higher rpm boost drop in the Evo.

We should really be saying this to you (since you have clearly modified cars before):
Nothing you have owned mods like the Evo.

Let me give you an example:
Buschur Racing Stage 3 (pump gas, stock turbo): $3455 - 12.09 @ 115, 361whp

Considering that the ability to pull on the top end is well represented by the 1/4mi trap speed, this is amazing. That's got to be close to 425 crank hp..>50% gain on the stock turbo! That's just from opening things up and tuning the fuel a bit. You will not find a stronger turbo engine in a new car. Period. The 4G63 is just built like a tank. There are now 3 tuners making 500+whp on the stock internals (ok, they have cams..SIMPLE to change on an inline 4).

For a car that's been out a year, that floors me.

you have to look also at the fact that you weren't driving a brand new one.. ya break it in on your own and definitely remove those pesky salesmen that always want to ride in the back. a few little mods and it will definitely scream... i am only 22 and i'm definitely gonna keep it till i'm 32 and with the mods i have planned it will still be a screamer!!!

From your other post you're not keeping it but trading it for "Really Stripped" one.

quarter mile time does not necessarily represent the top end power of the evo.. drag coefficient as well as the powerband matters in the real world... quarter-mile time cares less about powerband because you are dropping the clutch at high rpms but in a highspeed race, the lower you have to downshift, the worse for you because theres more gears to shift back up. take a buschur stage 3 evo and an SVT cobra... the evo has an edge doing the 0-60 and quarter-mile... but racing from highway speed will give the edge to the SVT because of its low RPM powerband. its interesting, try racing a supercharged car from roll compared to a turbo car... you'll have to be pretty aggressive with the rev to pull hard on the supercharger, which will have instead power. im blabbering but no matter how fast evo's are, just gotta accept an evo is an awesome sprinter... cant have the cake and eat it too

I didn't say 1/4 mi times, I said trap speeds. And unless you are out of your powerband, the trap speed _is_ an excellent indicator of how it will move on the interstate.

Traded in my 03 Cobra for an 03Evo

Just got my Blue BY YOU EVO with sunroof and spoiler... Paid 29,400ish (500 over invoice)...

I traded in my beloved 03Cobra because I'm having a baby in June(need a 4 dr). I have to say I miss the power a little bit, but was surprised how well the Evo pulls for a 2.0 Liter. I absolutely love the total package/handling of the Evo... The Cobra handles well, but the car had much more body roll.. I also had issues on the Cobra getting the power to the ground.. You couldn't floor it in the first two gears because you would roast the tires... + the rear tires would swing around in a milisec... So the AWD is a bigtime upgrade... I feel bitter sweet about the whole thing, but I'm sure after a stage on the Evo I will fell much better about my getting rid of my baby! I tried to explain it to my wife.. she loved the Cobra.. I told her I like this car just as much, but for totally different reasons....
