Just got, buying, reviewing, thinking about a new Evo [Ultra Hyper Mega MERGE]
should i buy an evo?
i have a 97 jetta vr6 that's on it's way out. so i've been searching for a new car, and i'm in love with the lancer. but i've been looking at threads and i see all kinds of bad reviews(nothcy ****fting, grinding gears, clutch, etc.) i can get past notchy gears because i like feeling it go into gear(depending on how notchy) but i'd like to find out more GOOD/BAD NEWS. and also anyone in north west jesey willing to let me test drive for cash would be great. Any help is appreciated.
don't worry i was like you when i first started. i don't know why people trip on newbies. if you were a evolved member and posting with out knowledge as to where or what you are posting. then you should get flamed. personally i think newbie bashing makes us look like uptight *** wholes. i know if i 1st came here and got flamed i would be like wtf the guys suck.
but, most of us are cool.
hey your topic got moved.lol

Give the guy a break and dont worry they will move it. I would look into the Evo 8 for sure as long as you know you have the funds. Also check out the STI and maybe an IS300. All your style but you can't go wrong with any of those 3 choices in my mind.
As far as the clutch and shifting problems I am pretty sure that was only on a certain few number of cases. As long as you take care of your car and dont start putting the pedal to the metal the first day you get it you will be fine. More and more people buy evo's though so you are safe believe me. Plus with so many people on this web site and other places there are already solutions to probably any problem you can come up with.

Evo if your giong to mod, Sti if your staying stock and driving a lot daily. Can't go wrong with both cars, but the evo is so much more of a drivers car to me. Plus, it looks cooler in my mind.
I would get it.
Wait, I already have one
Seriously, it's a good automobile. Every car has some problems here and there and I was actually expecting to be less satisfied with my Evo but I'm not.
I even think my Accord has more rattles.
