The more you live with the blue the more you like it. Atleast that is the way it worked for me and I really liked it when I bought mine. Congrats, have fun and be safe!

Best wishes,

Question Evo 9 v Evo 8MR

Howdy y'all,

Well, I decided on waiting for the '05 Evo 8 instead of buying the '03/'04, and now I'm in a little bit of a quandry...

Yeah, it seems that Mitsu will be releasing the MR version of the Evo 8 in June/July '04, BUT...

It also seems, that by January '05, Mitsu will release the Evo 9, which (per MOTOR TREND, April 2004, pg 34, as well as a blurb in CAR and DRIVER, same date) will have a similiar suspension set-up to the MR, 6sp tranny, ACD, and of course new sheet-metal wrapping.

Adding credibility to the above is that Mitsu is about to campaign its new WRC car and needs to start making a pedastrian version to sell to the masses.

What to do? Wait, or buy the Evo8 MR? To make things a little more interesting, I'm stuck driving an SUV in wait.

Thanks for your opinion/facts... if you got them,
g

You will be lucky if either the MR or the IX come here.

so pretty much you are debating between 2 cars that are not sure to make it at all? if you ask me, that is not the smartest thing to do. why don't you just pick up an evo 8 and enjoy it. the car is a blast to drive and you can enjoy it right now and not in 2 years if at all...

I doubt we'll see any other Evo's after the 04 models, to be honest. They're only bringing over roughly 1500-2000 (heard different figures, but all in the same ballpark) 04 models over. As for the MR, if an MR edition is ever brought over (again, highly unlikely), it will most certainly not have ACD, let alone a 6speed tranny.

Buy an 03 or an 04. Honestly, just love the car and enjoy it. Like blonde said, basing your future on two possible choices that, at this point in time, very very unlikely to happen isn't the smartest move .

I have to agree with blonde. I'm so inlove and happy with my Evo right now. It just feel way different when driving my car with the power and handling. If the MR really do comes here, I might trade in my car.

I also purchased the pitpass. You take the car in like every 3750 miles or 3 months, whatever comes first, they rotate the tires, change the oil with mobil1 replace the oil filter, do a general inpsection of the car, and wash it inside and out. It was pricey, but when I did the math, it was actually less than just the purchase price of that much mobil1

sticking it to the dealer!

I told the dealer I was going to trade in my 2002 for lightning. They said like 20,XXX K and I said no, i want 22,500. Eventually they caved in and I got to trade in the lightning for an Evo, which they brought to invoice already because of haggling! I got the Evo with trade in for like 8K something, I can't remember the exact number. You guys in California get some serious mark-up, its sad. Go buy an Evo out here in Indiana. (I didnt get one from Illinois cuz those ugly *** front license plates, Indiana doesn't require them)
