I take it you've never visited an srt-4, rx-8, or 03 cobra site.

I really didn't notice any mechanical problems with my evo. So far so good at over 10k mile. Maybe it is just your car...should definitely take it in if you are experiencing a lot of mechanical problems though.

I think he's refering to all the whining he sees on this board, not his car.

i chose the evo because its the newest EVO!!!
but the STI is a new motor 2.5L. IT only makes 30hp 30lb torque more than the evo with .5L more displacement.

the evo has more TURBO power
the sti has more motor power

if your going to keep the stock turbos on each car the EVO will make the most power. because the stock VF subee turbo runs out of steam.

when i went looking for a car i didn't even start at an sti. i looked at the srt-4, 350z, s2000(2.2L), Acura TL, then the evo. I test drove all of them and the evo gave the best enjoyment, comfort, and the 4G63 has been proven.

but if i got an STI, i'd probably be just as happy because its a fast turbo car.

I don't know why people complain about the Mitsu warranty, if you mod your car then don't expect them to support it. I plan on using my warranty at some point in the next 3 years. Therefore mods will wait until after that. Furthermore I can see all the problems that other EVO owners have had with mods, and then learn from their mistakes. To me owning a EVO is enough, I don't know why this cannot be enough.

As far as your STi debate then if your buying the car for a warranty then buy the STi. Although I feel that after comparing both and driving both that the EVO is more business.

Good Luck with your decision.

I said the same thing how I was going to keep mine stock, but after a few months of having it, the "mod bug" hit me, so O-well, if I run into a problem that has something to do with my mods, I will have to pay for it out of pocket, if there is something that is non-mod related, that is a different story.

To go along with the topic, I like the look of the STI, but never drove one, just the plain WRX. Iv'e always wanted the Evo, so it was an easy choice for me.

Is this a good deal on a new EVO?

Hi, I'm a newbie soon to get a new Evo. I looked at a few dealers in my area and found an 03 Evo w/ sunroof and wing, w/ 19 miles on it. They say their invoice on it is 28,965. Base plus invoice on sunroof and wing plus destination. Does that sound correct?

They will sell it to me for 29K and change - still below sticker. The sales mgr says he is unwilling to go below invoice.

Maybe a dumb question but is this a good deal? Should I hold out for lower price or go for it?

He must not pay attention on the Subaru boards either. Yes, some Evo owners have had problems..just like some Subaru owners. How about the guy that had his stock Sti motor blow (#4 cylinder) and Subaru was denying warranty because they said he drove it too hard? That's not the only case either. There are a bunch of other little gripes just like you read here. Subaru dealers really aren't any better about honoring warranties on modified cars. Just read the boards.
I like both cars and considered the Sti...but the Evo offers more for the money....

Considering it has 19 miles, it has been test driven a few times. Their number for invoice is correct assuming they have a dealer association fee thrown in there, but I would not pay that for a car that has been driven, period. The other problem is since mitsu pulled all the dealer incentives, and the car has probably been there for a little while, they don't even get the holdback, and are thus stuck between a rock and a hard place. If you want the car, offer something in the 28's, then play the waiting game if necessary. Remind him it has been driven, and you deserve compensation for that. Don't let them pressure you.

From the past, to the present.

Hello kiddies and people. figured it was time to say hi since i have been registered for a while just never posted anything. the last time i was here, the evo had not been released yet. amazing how fast things change in the world of cars.

well a little bout me and what i know.
used to have a 95 gsx that was fairly quick {11.80's on a 16g}
sold it, bought a 90 tsi {mid 12's on a 14b} so you might say im not a stranger to the world of the 4g63.

got bored with those and went and did something stupid, bought an suv {95 pathfinder} now i miss going fast and being able handle.

sticking with my so called 4g roots im looking to pick up an evo this fall, and will most likely be lurking around this site for a while, because frankly, it is the best one i have found thus far. i might end up doing the stupid n00bie questions and such but the search function is my friend.

Walk in. Tell them $27,960. It's an 03. If their unwilling to take your offer leave.

That's a car they want to get rid off. Trust me.

They want to get rid of it, but whether or not they'll take a loss on it is another story.

27,900 is not taking a loss.

I don't know if you pro-dealer guys don't actually know the real numbers, or you DO know the real numbers and are just LYING.

But it's getting tiresome.

Dang, $1000 below invoice...dealer would have to be on crack to sell that thing...as I have gotten older I have learned that you never really want to steel cars like that...it wasts your time and causes you more of a headache than it is worth in the $100-500 bucks you save. That sounds like a reasonable deal..offer invoice, buy it..and everyone walks away happy. Besides, you will get it sooner which means you can start enjoying the hell out of it that many more days before you die.
