Just got, buying, reviewing, thinking about a new Evo [Ultra Hyper Mega MERGE]
Do you have anything better to do or look at rather than how old I am. Its nice outside. Now we must not curse in front of junior. A Legend, EVO1, and a suburu....nice! If didnt start sh... their wouldnt be any. Its nice to know that fellow Airforce is always there beside me. Uhhh.. he curses so uhh... he is 12, hey get off my nuts.

With the EVO (new engine, not broken in yet) the first quarter tank went 80+ miles. I'll be really interested in seing what the long term millage will be.

Same driving style I was netting 24-25mpg in my S2000 !!!
I bought some camber bolts it was alot cheaper than a trade in. I honestly don't think you properly learned to drive the subaru if you are calling the DCCD a disadvantage. 6mt has to many gears for you? Maybe you should get an auto.
Re: Re: Traded my STI for an evo
To date it has been ... in my opinion pretty poor .... about 18.5mpg - 19mpg.

Hi folks,
just bought my EVO 8 for a smokin' deal last Thursday. Silver and very nice. Been in the country all of 2 months (from UK) and already blown a wad of cash!
First impressions, Very fast, quicker than my old GTR to 60 it feels but maybe because it's a lot lighter and noisier. Gearbox very noisy (does it quieten down after a few hundred miles?). Only had 7 miles on the clock when I drove it home.
Look forward to being an active member of the forum.

The silver is to simple. The blue is........well blue.
The yellow is too eyecatching. Too much unwanted attention.
White is very clean. Very
But red is a the eye-catching clean
especially with tinted windows
Then throw on some black rims with red wall tires then you're
I know, I know. This is an Evo forum but I really need help with my issue. Honesty please. First, I thought I wanted an RX8 but my girl told me to check out the Evo. I'm currently in Iraq so I can't test drive the cars, but want to settle my mind on which car i will purchase when/if I get home. The Evo seems cool but only to add mods. No one seems to keep it stock. The RX8 also seems cool. Not as good performance numbers but what's a second or two here and there. My issue with the Evo is I'm not really impressed with Mitsu as a company. I think they cut corners with quality when they can. My issue with Mazda is I'm concerned how will fit in an RX8. I'm 6'00''/ 230, and don't want to look or feel cramped in my new car. I owned a '96 Probe GT and sold it because I could never get comfortable in the driver's seat. After flying combat missions for a year in an Apache Longbow helicopter, I finally want to be comfortable. However, I don't want to sacrifice performance for comfort and don't want to spend over 30k. I've done endless internet searches on the two cars and from my research I have both cars in a dead heat tie. Your honest feedback and recommendations will serve me well in helping me make my decision. Thanks.
Re: Thinking about 04' Evo... or maybe RX-8
It looks like what you need to do is go sit in the RX8 and then sit in the EVO. IMO the EVO is way more comfortable. I'm 6'/200, and I don't have any complaints. After having my EVO for almost a year, I hate riding in other people's cars because they don't have as comfortable seats as I do.
I have heard alot of problems with the RX-8 wrt to dealers, hp figures and the like. I have only sat in an RX-8 (6'3'',200lbs) and it feels comfortable.
With that being said, not everyone mods the evo but you get alot when you do. I am very comfortable in the evo but I do have an automatic, cruise control car available for longer/rougher road trips...so I would have to leave it up to you in the way of driving comfort..this is not a limo
.
Anyways, the EVO is the most fun I have had in a car (well....almost heh heh) and I love it so

Most cars these days are designed to allow enough room for people who are 6ft and a lil over.
But if it is comfort that you want, the Evo is not for you. It's ride is stiffer than any car I have been in. There is minimal sound deadening. The RX-8 is certainly much more plush.
The Evo is really meant for people who want as much performance in a Japanese car(handling and accel) as they can get for their money.
SC~

The ride is harsh, but nowhere as bad as people say. Maybe they are all too used to Buicks? Yes it is bumpy, but your internals will still be in place after you stop driving.
I considered the RX-8 before purchasing an EVO. A few things set the EVO over the RX-8 such as interior room, aftermarket products, and most importantly AWD (live in snowbelt). BTW, comparing 0 to 60 mph times, there's a huge difference between 4.8 seconds and 5.8 seconds. Yes the suspension is stiff, but that's the price to pay for .90+g skidpad ratings.
I'm looking into a new EVO as well...but I would not even put the RX-8 on the list. The car is way underpowered.
It looks nice, has some nice features, but overall it's a totally different car from the EVO. Go for the EVO!!!
