Newbie Question: Failed Smog inspection because my CEL light isn't working?

Hey EvolutionM,
Is the Service engine light and Check engine light the same>? I opened up the cluster and bulbs were all there. I checked the fuse and it wasn't missing anything. What can be this problem? Is the Engine service light suppose to come on with the other light when turning the ignition on 3? Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, the light is to be on when the bulb check happens as you first turn on the key. see if the bulb is burnt out or if power is getting to it when you first turn on the key.

You can't just reset the codes and go in, the ECU needs to cycle a certain number of times before it'll pass OBDII inspection.

Or you can flag OBDII readiness

I swapped the bulbs in and it came on. So I assume check fuses. If not try another bulb.
