How do you take up tar material under rear seats? Pics

I'm doing a autopower roll bar install and don't want to bolt onto of the tar like sound dending material. I've seen pics with people take it up. But Mitsubishi put this on car with f***ing space craft glue it won't come up. Any advice?

(Will post pics later on my phone right now and can't do it)

Thanks

I've never done it, but I've heard dry ice works. You gotta freeze it and then it chip it off with a scraper.

^unless you want a clean look and/or the most weight savings you can possibly get. I helped a friend tear down his interior in his subie and it looked crappy to say the least

I used dry ice in my old Si. It's a ***** but it works, comes off it little chunks and you may mess up your paint underneath...if you do try towerpaint.com , OEM paint in a spray can...

its not worth it in my opinion unless your doing a strictly track car. it looks like crap and makes the inside of the car pretty loud

I used a heat gun and a scraper, worked awesome. It only took a half hour tops to do the whole car (trans tunnel included) and a lot of the time was spent figuring out the best temp to get the pads.

If it bubbles you got it too hot and it comes off messy, if it's just warm to the touch then you can roll it off using the scraper.

I also took all the excess seam sealer out off the car and went back over it with a lighter coat. Simple scraper and elbow grease there, did the whole bottom of the car as well.

Seems the Mustang guys were talking about the heat gun trick and it worked.

It was super easy, I didn't want to deal with finding dry ice.

I was pretty supprised really, I've used a wire wheel before and it was a mess, the heatgun was the magic trick.
