oil filter angled on car

I just took a look under the car and noticed that the filter is slanted a little bit. Can someone confirm if this is normal? I don't believe I hit anything on the road but I will jack the car up tomorrow and take a look.

can you post some pics? that would help a lot... any oil leaks? does the filter itself look like you hit something

I would guess this isnt normal then. It's too dark right now so I can't take a pic. I also didn't see any oil leak. So if I did hit something, what would be the cost to fix this?

difficult to say..... just depends if there is any damage and how bad the damage is.
inspected first to see if there is any damage on the filter take some pics, post them up when ever possible of course, if it looks fine maybe its not installed correctly i dont know bro.

I dont think the oil filter housing would bend at all, it would snap if anything. But if you end up needing one I have a spare.

I have seen the thread on an oil filter sandwich plate snap off before, I doubt it could bend to a noticable angle without breaking.

Are you concerned the filter is damaged or the thread on the car is?

Mine is also angled slightly towards the wheel. Filter always threads right on and never leaks when doing an oil change, so I believe it is completely normal for it to sit this way.

I think the OP is wondering if the filter is cross-threaded, not what kind of an angle the filter adapter is compared to the engine or wheel.
