does having a DD make the evo experience better?
I never thought it would, but recently i was thinking about it, the first year i bought my car it was my DD and i loved it, but at the end of the year i wasnt as in love as i first was, maybe getting a little bored with it......well winter arrived and i decided the evo wouldnt see snow, so i went and bought a truck. when winter was almost over i was once again happy to get out the evo and drive the heck out of it, felt super fast due to me driving the truck all winter....i now use my truck as a DD and my evo for a weekend/track car, i believe that helps greatly with not getting as bored with the evo, anyone else agree?
I used my last evo as a DD, and it never got boring. Some things got old...always worrying about where you park, not being able to put large items in it, stop and go traffic, putting on a lot of miles.
I do think having a DD is great. The only problem is I now have a DD that I really like, so I worry about some of the same things I did when I drove the evo every day.
There definately is an adjustment though getting back into the evo. It does make it feel "new" at least for a little bit

HELL NO. DD an evo makes the experience better. i dont understand those that have had their evos since 03 and 04 and only have 20k miles on the car. how can the experience be that great with it sitting in the garage? Do they sit and stare at it at night like a playboy magazine or something? i mean lets face it the automobile was invented to get you from point a to point b. some get you there faster than others, but the point still remains cars were meant to be driven not sit. i dont get why people want to keep the miles off the cars either, i mean things that break or wear can be replaced or fixed so whats the big deal? to me having more miles on my car than some means ive had more fun in mine than you have lol. if something breaks i fix it and hit the road again.
i agree with awdordie. having an evo and not driving it everyday is like having a hot wife that you never sleep with so she is in better condition for her next husband.
i had a daily driver when i had my evo 7 and i hardly used it because i wanted to drive the evo all the time.
and lets face it its not like its a rotary that needs 3 years to warm up.

I originally planned on DD'ing the Evo, then it went down, I had to buy a beater. I bought a truck, and I really am happier having the truck to clunk around in. People at my school park like absolute asshats and its a nightmare there. People are really disrespectful and slam doors into yours and whatnot, so for that reason alone, Im happy to keep the Evo out of harms way. I get out of class, and take the car right out for a drive and enjoy driving it without worrying about careless people around it.
Back when it was stockish with boltons it was a perfectly good DD car, and honestly still is even now that its fully built, eventhough it is a bit tempermental. But being able to only take it out for fun for a few hours a day is greater than DD'ing the car at this point to me.

It's definitely better to have another car as a backup. When the car is in the shop being worked on especially its nice to have that other car. Also having a low powered beater helps me not get too bored with the power level. Driving around in a 90 hp Geo Prism resets my butt dyno and the Evo stays feeling quick.

Sometimes, doing maintenance like 60k service or changing the clutch, you wish you had a spare car and then the spare car becomes your daily. After 3 years of dailying my Evo, I got to that point where I just bought a second car and now doing a complete build. Whenever I was sad and felt very emo though, it all went away when I step on that gas.

One day away from the Evo makes me miss it. I didn't drive my car for 4 months and when I finally got to drive it, felt like I just bought the car. So yeah I know what you mean. And I'm the type who gets bored of things quickly.

I DD my Evo 64 miles a day (round trip).
Got her with 40k on it now I'm at 105k. Probably one of the most fun daily cars you can ask for. MPG isn't horrible when out of boost, wet/dry/snow handling is fun, Boost is GREAT
and reliability so far considering the power is awesome. Nothing has broken yet, I just do the regular maintenance and the occasional mod

and to keep miles low depends on the person but yea the car is less likely to be rear ended as a DD... and driving to the grocery store for small trips and stop and go traffic is not fun much less not good for the car.

anyways, I say having a DD is good option if you can afford it. It allows for the car to be in the garage during snow storms and other bad weather, less likely to be rear ended or hit by some idiot in the parking lot at a grocery store because you were just running an errand and obviously keeps the miles lower on it... which to some people is important.
I have a 97 civic hx and a lifted 03 chevy tahoe lt that i drive daily, and it makes jumping in my evo on the weekends or track days that much more fun anymore. I daily drove my evo for 2 yrs, but i found that the more mods I did to improve performance I did, the less tolerable it was to drive on a day to day basis. So now I have my ol' reliable civic that gets over 40mpg and that i don't have to worry about door dings then the tahoe for towing/hauling, bad weather, or if I feel like being the bully in traffic... And the evo if I wanna go stupid fast of course
my point was if you have it use it, enjoy it.
guys with stripped out racers sure its understandable you cant drive it daily
however near stock cars, full interior or just boltons IMO no excuse. take your evo out every day enjoy it to its max and to hell with it if it gets dirty.
