Autronic Rally Evo Question

Hey guys.

I' am planning on buying a rally evo that competed in the Super America rally series and i have some questions about getting it registered and passing emissions. The car currently has an Autronic installed and has various emissions systems removed. The evap systems have been removed as well the rear O2 sensor. The car shows no codes on the dashboard because of the autronic. In arizona all the car has to do to pass emissions is to pass a OBDII test. So my question is when the autronic deletes the codes does it make show a status of "not ready" and fail the test or do i not need to worry about it.

Why don't you ask the chaps who run the car? I'm guessing that it won't show its status as "not ready" but then again... you're buying a rally car to drive on the street?

Out of curiosity... why not just buy a street Evo?

It will fail because its not the OEM computer. If you can get your hands on the right ECU for the models year and disable all that stuff in the ECU then you should be fine (Hopefully they don't look for the cat)

And +1 on buying something thats less of a hassle. Why buy a off road car and try to make it streetable?

i plan on rallying it, but driving it to places where i can practice and driving it between stages in a rally the car needs to be street legal. The car has just become old enough to where it needs to be emissions tested so i was just wondering if it would pass or if i would have to reinstall all the stock components...

Hey Nic

Nic I have an extra ECU in my closet that we can throw in it and have Phuong disable all the components that have been removed and it should pass.

And to help answer the "Why not buy a street /less hassle evo" question

Nic aka Thee Stig has owned 2 street evos so far, 1 rally/street Sti, and is just moving more into the Rally scene.

Cant wait for you guys to pick it up, looking forward to checking that beast out.

I'm fairly confident that driving it in between stages at rally's the cops will cut you some slack since you're going to and from the pits on public roads.

As for driving to and from the rallys... I'm out of ideas. Obviously trailer it... but I'm sure you've thought of that by now.

Makes sense. Get a stock ECU and disable all the emissions stuff and add the OBD II readiness sub routine.

Between stages the cops wont bother you, you will be fine there. And you should be trailering the car to events. Anytime you drvie in a caged car you should be wearing a helmet.

Lets see some pictures of it
